Irene Valdez Obituary
She was born Oct. 6, 1951 in Derby, Colo. to Jose and Rosa Chavez of Holman.
She is survived by her parents, Jose and Rosa Chavez of Holman; her son, Donald Valdez (Margaret) of Mora; her daughter, Tawnya Barreras and husband, Enrique, of Texas; grandchildren, Destiny, Teresa and Ashton; sister, Grace of Amarillo; brothers Sammy Chavez and wife, Martha, Rudy Chavez (Doris) of Holman; special nieces, Trudy Herrera and Eileen Chavez as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Eloy Chavez.
Irene was a very friendly, outgoing and loving person. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her two dogs, "Buddy" and "Benjie." She was an adventurous women who loved to travel in her little red truck. She will be missed greatly.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. today (Friday) at Nelson Funeral Home along with a second memorial service at noon Saturday at the Mora Baptist Church.
