Blanche Salick Obituary

Blanche Salick
October 15, 1911 - December 26, 2011
Blanche Salick passed away on Dec. 26, 2011 at the age of 100 years, at her home in Los Angeles. Preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, brother, sisters, and many other relatives and friends, Blanche died peacefully of natural causes. As a young woman, she immigrated to the United States from Romania, narrowly escaping the devastation of the Holocaust. After the war, she lovingly gave safe haven to friends and relatives who had survived the concentration camps, taking them into her home, and finding them employment. Blanche and her devoted husband Martin raised three children who were the center of their world: Allen Salick, MD, Bernard Salick, MD, and Renee Salick Wagner, EdD. Blanche delighted in being the proud grandmother of 9 grandchildren: Adrienne Salick, Matt Salick, Nick Salick, Gabriella Salick (Robert Sean Leonard), Elizabeth Salick (Lior Schapiro), Anna-Martine Salick, Alexandra Eaton, Rebecca Wagner, and Josh Wagner; and 6 great-grandchildren: Amelia, Georgia, Eleanor, Eitan, Liam, and Luca. She warmly embraced her daughters-in-law, Gloria Salick and Candace Salick, and son-in-law, Bill Wagner. She valued life, education and family, and urged her family to treasure each day as a gift. She was a life-long, ardent Zionist. If you wish to remember her with tzadaka, a donation to American Friends of Magen David Adom (the Red Cross of Israel) will honor her devotion to the State of Israel and the field of medicine.
