It was sad news to hear of Colin's death. He is sorely missed. He and Olive were always so gracious and kind to Robert and me. We visited many times over leisurely dinners. Those dinners were a series of the most interesting conversations. Robert, who had been recently welcomed into the ranks of clergy by Bhp., Borsh, both from Princeton Theological Seminary, and Colon had terrific discussions. We so enjoyed our time at St. Mark's with all the beautiful congregants and the music directed by David Billiter. Those times have passed, and both Colin and Robert have had all their questions answered. An excellent scholar and generous human being. May he rest in eternal peace and rise in glory.

Colin and Olive were dear friends to Pat and me during our five years at St. Mark's. One of my joys was sharing with him the presiding role at the Thursday 6:30 am Eucharists following my reception as a priest. Our thoughts and prayers are with Colin's family and the people of St. Mark's.

Toni Freeman Stuart. St. Mark's sponsored me for ordination many years ago, and Colin gave me an alb which he no longer wore. It is lightweight cotton, and I have worn it every single Sunday when I celebrated at the Chapel of St. Francis in Atwater Village, Los Angeles, and St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Sacramento. Both of those churches could get a little toasty in the summer and I was always glad of Colin's lightweight alb.
A generous and gentle man!

Colin and Olive were so kind and loving to me when I studied at Fuller and afterwards as well. Always encouraging. I emailed him last year and he wrote about how the book was coming along. "I reckon that the First Quest began with the delegation of scribes from Jerusalem (Mark 3). " I can see the smile he probably had on his face when he wrote it. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a gift to make the complicated simple, and when he would pray humbly to the Lord at the start of class -- I was always moved. I often said his systematic theology was a notebook, not a bound volume, as he taught us to continue learning God's Truth. "Grant eternal joy to Colin, O Lord, in Your Presence; and let light perpetual shine upon him." Thank you, God, for this dear man who has impacted so many of our lives.
