I can't belive it's been so many years. Dan was a wonderful, talented, brilliant, unique person. We shared some laughs, some French (he once called me to demand a translation of a long poem, which I was somehow able to give him) and much warmth over the years. I'm sure his loving family continues to hold him in their hearts. (We were friends at Stanford Law School, I was a year behind him.)

Dan was a year ahead of me at Stanford Law School. I just loved him - his humor, warmth, intelligence, his gentleness (overlaying a fierce sense of justice). The whole city in addition to his friends and family lost a tremendous contributor when he passed away. What a huge loss.

To Dan's family and loved ones,
I apologize for not reaching out sooner. I was deeply saddened to hear of Dan's death last year. I've been cleaning out my belongings and I realized I had tapes of an entertainment interview series I did in the early 90s for local cable TV. Dan was teaching at UCLA at the time and he graciously agreed to serve as host for the program. He was a delight to work with -- charismatic, intelligent and very warm. We lost touch over the years, and I wanted to share one of the program DVD's with his partner or family. If you know how I can reach them, would you kindly email me: [email protected]. Sincerest condolences.

My condolences to Danny's family and friends. I met Dan at Garvin;s Comedy Club in DC in 1982. He was hosting a show I was performing on. We have been friends ever since. He was funny and clever and smart and kind. I will miss him forever. He made me laugh and smile in a way no once else did,

Robin and former Stanford University President Donald Kennedy send their deepest condolences to Dan's family. Among his many accomplishments, Dan was a wonderful and highly valued trustee of our University. May his memory be a blessing to all who loved him.

Sending my sincere condolences to the family and friends in the loss of my dear friend, Dan. I met and worked with Dan at NCTA and he was always a happy spirited person. It was bittersweet when he moved to CA but I was so happy for him and we kept in touch. After he left DC, he called and said "come to CA to be with me and momma." We had a special mother/son type of relationship and my family knew him as "my Dan." One of our talks was shortly after he sent me a special birthday note/entry for my 80th birthday souvenir journal. That was so special to me.
I will truly miss "my Dan". He will never be forgotten and may he rest in peace.

Dan was a shining star and we always had fun together over the many years that we knew each other. He was brilliant, witty, thoughtful, sensitive, gentle and a mensch in every respect. He brought out the best in so many because he was the best himself. I will always remember him as a person of quality, depth and imagination. He has left us all too soon, but also with an indelible image of someone who had such a joyful approach to living. I will miss his laughter always.

My husband Steve Miller, whom I met at Stanford Law School, and I were both extremely fond of Dan, who was in the class ahead of us. We loved his sense of humor, his marvelous story-telling abilities and his warmth. I often served as Dan's "straight man" for humorous stories told at or just after law review meetings. We were delighted when he moved back to Los Angeles and looked forward to seeing him again. He will be greatly, greatly missed.
