Donald Hunt Obituary

October 6, 1920 - February 8, 2017 Donald George Hunt passed away on February 8, 2017 at the age of 96 with his wife by his side. Donald is survived by his beloved wife, Priscilla Hunt. Donald was born in Michigan on October 6, 1920. As a youth, each holiday season Donald would observe his father, a Salvation Army major and minister, and his mother, a fundraiser for the charitable organization, assisting those in need. At a young age, he had such a strong work ethic by doing every odd job he could-from delivering newspapers to washing dishes to parking cars to selling ice-for extra money. Donald also had a great fondness for music and played horn in the Salvation Army band. After serving in the U.S. Army he began selling real estate in Michigan, earning top salesman honors. When moving to California, he continued to buy, sell and develop property, and eventually acquiring more than 4,000 rentals, along with a plethora of shopping centers, industrial and commercial properties. At 96, a child of the Great Depression, the success he had achieved through tenacity and hard work has never been taken for granted. Priscilla, his wife adds "Wealth doesn't mean anything to him; he is a generous and simple man. His priority has always been to put food on the table of his employees." Donald was very beloved and will be deeply missed by so many hearts that he has touched. A visitation will be held 3pm-8pm on Friday, February 24, 2017 at New Life Church-Harbor City, CA.

Uncle Don, I just found this memorial. I know we lost touch over the last several years, and I wish we had reconnected. I don't remember if you beat me at tennis or not... we had fun on Maui last time I saw you. R.I.P. and give my dad, Wes, a hug for me. - Donna
(P.S. My mom, Greta, said I was named after you.)

I just read of the passing of Don. He was my former brother-in-law, married to my sister, Carole Hammond, for many years. Although he attained riches, he was always a kind man who cared more about his family and friends than what he earned. Thank you for being in my life, Don. My heart-felt sympathy to Priscilla and all who loved and miss him.

I just read about the Hunt's contribution to Little Company of Mary, etc. What an awesome testimony they have. So successful and so generous. Thank you for the example you have provided us during your life and for impact you've had on generations to come. God bless you Mrs. Hunt.
