Elias Aziz Malki

October 1, 1931 - February 10, 2015 Dr. Elias Aziz Malki, faithful servant of Christ for 64 years, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 10, 2015. Dr. Malki was the founder and CEO of Middle East Gospel Outreach, creator and host of the Good News Program and author of the book Ambassador of a Higher Power, an autobiography based on his life's work. Dr. Malki was born on October 1, 1931 in Lebanon, the son of a Presbyterian elder who escaped the massacre of Christians in eastern Turkey. His family then moved to Haifa in Palestine, where he felt the call to the Ministry when he was just 10 years old. When he was 19, Dr. Malki moved to California to study seminary at Life Bible College in Los Angeles, where he received his ordination. He later received a doctorate of divinity at Claremont Graduate School of Theology in 1987. While in California, he met Donna Allen. They eventually married and had four children. In 1959, Dr. Malki and his family moved back to Lebanon as missionaries. He worked in the region for 20 years, reaching thousands of people for Christ. From 1977 to 1985, Dr. Malki hosted the first full-Gospel radio program in the Arabic language, which was broadcast from the island of Cyprus. In 1982, he created and hosted the Good News Program, the first Evangelical Christian television program in the Middle East. From there, his ministry took off, and his show is now broadcast in 180 countries to an audience of 20 million people per week. He met with numerous heads of state and countless religious leaders, including Pope John Paul II and Pope Shenouda III of Alexandria. Dr. Malki never retired from his life's work; he continued to travel all over the world to spread the Gospel until his passing. In addition to his accomplishments, Elias was also a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Donna; his four children, Rebecca, Ruth, Timothy and Daniel; and four grandchildren. Memorial services will take place at Church on the Way in Van Nuys, California on Saturday, March 14 at 1 p.m.
