Frederick Schenk Obituary

SCHENK, Frederick "Fritz" Died on November 5th in Northridge, CA. He was born in Mansfield, Ohio on May 10, 1927 to Karl and Marie (Kuhn) Schenk, graduated from Mansfield High School, class of 1945, and joined the Navy near the end of World War II. He was preceded in death by parents and sister, Katherine. Fritz graduated in 1949 from Ohio State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and later received his Master's Degree from USC. He worked for several aerospace companies before moving to California in 1962 where he joined Lockheed Aircraft "Skunkworks" from which he retired in 1988. Fritz enjoyed playing his viola in many local symphony orchestras until his health prevented him from participating. Fritz is survived by his wife Elisabeth (Thomann), his son, Frederick Schenk, his daughters, Patricia Matsumaru, Christine Schenk (John Birchell Hughes), and Kathleen Schenk; grandchildren, Yuki Matsumaru, Keita Matsumaru and Rudy Tonkovich; and great-grandchild, Takumi Ishino. The family wishes to express special thanks to caregiver Rhodora Digos, her husband Guadencio, and to neighbors Gabriel and Caroline Rodriguez. Thank you also to the doctors and nurses at Northridge Hospital for the exceptional care given Fritz and who were so caring and compassionate to Elisabeth and her children. In accordance with his wishes, no funeral services will be held.
