Geraldine Knight Obituary

Geraldine B. Knight, beloved wife and mother, passed away on February 7, 2009 from complications related to Alzheimer's in Claremont, California. She was 84. She remains an inspiration for conquering the adversities in her life with a loving heart and iron resolve. Even this horrible disease could not destroy her sweet nature. She is survived by her best friend of 70 years and husband for over 61 years, Richard; daughters Jan and Elise Knight; son-in-law Kevin Ward; siblings Eileen Yochim, Dr. Roland Boike, Loretta Edwards, and Carol Snipes; and granddaughter Analiese, who she adored but who was born too late to know her grandmother before disease stole her mind.

Born in Parlett, Ohio, on November 8, 1924, Geraldine grew up in Madiera, Ohio. She graduated from Christ Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati, Ohio, in the class of 1945 and served as a Cadet Nurse in the U.S. Naval Hospital in San Diego. Geraldine remained in the nursing profession until choosing to stay at home to raise a family, whose lives she blessed and enriched with her many talents and loving heart. She had a gift for providing comfort and a gentle touch that could heal anything that was wrong. Geraldine possessed exceptional integrity and depth of character and had the talent and intelligence to be anything she chose, and she chose to devote her life to her family. Please mama rest in peace, your beautiful mind unfettered at last. We miss you and love you more than words can express. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Alzheimer's Association through the Geraldine B. Knight Memorial Fund at http://act.alz.org/goto/Geraldine.B.Knight.

To my beautiful mother-in-law. Not many people could say they've been so blessed to have been touched by their mother-in-law...but I can. Your sweetness, selflessness, and talents have filled me with beautiful memories of you. I'll never forget them. Your positive influence in my life will stay with me forever. I will miss you but never forget what you did for me and all the people who were lucky enough to know you. Your loving son-in-law, Kevin.
