Gloria McCord

1941 - 2016

March 19, 1941 - September 15, 2016 Gloria McCord passed away peacefully in her home with her family present on Sept.15th. Gloria was born on 3-19-1941 in Ellsworth, Kansas to John and Lucille Mays. She graduated from the University of Kansas in 1963 and married Berry McCord on graduation weekend. She figuratively and literally supported Berry through 8 years of medical training, completed 2 master's degrees and raised two sons, Marc age 47 and Jud age 45. With her sons grown she became interested in the entertainment industry. She acted, made a number of national commercials, wrote plays, and made short films. She was diagnosed with a serious illness in 2002 and for the next 14 years dealt with the progression of this illness without complaint. She is survived by her husband, Berry, her two sons, Marc and Jud, her sisters Kala Stroup and Katharine Harts and her brother John Mays and their families. A celebration of Gloria's life will be conducted by her sister, Rev. Katharine Harts at 3:00pm on Friday, Sept. 30th at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3740 E. Sierra Madre Blvd., Pasadena.
