Gregory Lowe Stein obituary, 1962-2015, Murrieta, CA

Gregory Stein Obituary

November 4, 1962 - April 7, 2015 Intellectually witty, charming without ego, handsome, politically focused, loyal, loving and steadfast, do not begin to describe the type of genuine human being we have lost in the passing of Gregory Stein. At the age of 52 Greg had a fatal heart attack in Murrieta, California. He had a laid-back, satirical calculated sense of humor; he mastered unconditional love for all of his family and friends and was our pillar of strength. Greg grew up in Huntington Beach and after attending Edison High School graduated from the University of San Diego. During his collegiate life Greg was recognized as an exemplary football athlete. He played four years on the University of San Diego football team and was renowned for his fortitude and athleticism. In 1985, Greg was honored as the senior with the best academic and athletic accomplishments and was awarded "Scholar-Athlete for the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame" by the University of San Diego Chapter. He furthered his education focusing on Economics and Manufacturing achieving two masters degrees from University of Arizona and the UC San Diego. While he found great success in his career, his most valuable accomplishment was his loving family and friends. Greg has a robust extended family, which cares for him deeply and will miss him eternally. In life, Greg found Stephanie, married and raised a beautiful family. They designed and built their dream home in Murrieta watching their children grow and their family flourish. Gregory's time has been devastatingly cut short and his mark on this world will never be forgotten. Greg is loved by many and survived by his wife Stephanie, sons Jacob and Alec, daughter Sydney, mother Elda Lowe and stepfather Murray Stein, stepmother Susan Stein, predeceased by father Phillip Stein, siblings Richelle, Joshua, Heidi, Michael and Felicia, Aunt Lois, the entire Williams Family and many nieces, nephews, cousins, beloved and loving friends.

The loss of a cherished loved one, especially one as talented and giving as Gregory, is tremendously painful. That is why we need Christ, Our Savior because we have the promise of eternal life. It makes that loss more bearable but not painless.

May the passage of time ease some of the pain of Gregory's departure.

I still cannot fathom that Greg has passed. He was always a thoughtful and intelligent child when I knew him and his mother Elda. The pain of such a loss does not go away but does lessen somewhat. Our memories and hope in Christ is what makes it more tolerable.

I knew Gregory as a child and he and my girls were close. Elda opened her home to me when I returned from Europe in 1971. Greg was also at my daughter Julie's services when she passed at age 17. He was a handsome and compassionate youngster and his mother a generous loving mother whom I had first met when we were neighbors in Reno, NV. Elda, I hope you will email me at [email protected] I live in Denver CO. I am so sorry for your loss.

To Gregory's Family, I'm sorry for your loss. May this comforting verse give you some peace of mind as they have for me over the years.

This is heartbreaking news. Your obituary captured Greg perfectly. The world is a darker place for his passing while the heavens shine brighter with this beautifully talented soul shining down on all of us.

So sorry to hear this. Lost touch with him but recall from our high school days what a class act he was. Rest in peace.
