Jeffrey TenEyck Obituary

TenEyck, Jeffrey Harlow
Jeff was born on December 25, 1969 in Newport Beach, California and was tragically killed at the age of 35 in an airplane crash off the coast of Dana Point, California on November 19, 2005. Jeff spent his entire childhood living in Laguna Beach, California. He attended Harbor Day School in Corona del Mar, and graduated from Laguna Beach High School in 1988. After graduation, Jeff moved from the ocean of Laguna to the mountains of Park City, Utah where he worked in the ski industry. He then moved to Durango, Colorado where he worked in Real Estate and continued his education at Fort Lewis College earning his BA degree in History in 1997. Jeff moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming in 2000 where he worked for The Coldwell Banker Company as a Real Estate Broker and where he lived until his death. Jeff was a lover of the great outdoors. He was happiest skimboarding and surfing the beaches of Laguna, flyfishing and white water kayaking in Wyoming, helicopter skiing in Canada, deepsea fishing the waters of the Pacific in California, water skiing the rivers of Mexico, and off-road motorcycling the hills of Colorado and Wyoming. He was careful and fearless except while riding in an airplane and then he was always hesitant to climb on board. Jeff was known for many things; but probably best for his infectious laugh and smile, his remarkable sense of humor and his ability to light up a room whenever he walked into it. He loved his family, his fiance, his friends, and his dogs. He was known by many and loved by all who knew him well. Jeff is survived by his mother and step-father Susan and Charles Champion of Corona del Mar, California, his sister and brother-in-law: Victoria and Kevin Keyes and their three children Ashley, Chandler and Camryn of Irvine, California, his brother and sister-in-law: Caroline and Eric TenEyck and their two daughters Leah and Catherine of Laguna Niguel, California. Jeff also leaves behind his fiance Jennifer Husman of Jackson Hole, his aunt Victoria Daly and four cousins, Austin Daly, Vanessa Bucher, Beth Woods and Edward TenEyck. He was predeceased by his father Warren (Jack) TenEyck in 2002. We cherish the short time we all had together, Jeff, and will miss you and pray for you always. Interment will be private and a Celebration of Jeff's life will be held at 2:00 PM on December 5, 2005 at The Laguna Presbyterian Church in Laguna Beach, California. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: The Snake River Fund, c/o David French, P.O.Box 776, Wilson, WY 83014.

Jeff's passing saddens me deeply but I must say that his means of departure was not unlike him at all-the adventurer! While we didn't have a lot of time together working in real estate,(he had to go on another adventure to Jackson Hole!) we became good friends as well as colleagues. A caring, compassionate, happy person was Jeff. I too, can still hear him laughing and saying "Hodges, I told you to come visit me in Jackson!" And yes, I should have. I am grateful to have known such a wonderful guy! May his soul rest in peace.

Condolence to Jeff's family and friends. There was never a time we did not have fun together. The "Thursday night" Hermosa Trail riders will meet Tuesday 12/13/05 6:00PM at Lady Falconbergs to remember our riding buddy and friend. Everyone is welcome to share a toast for Jeff with us.

It is still so hard to believe Jeff is gone. His endless enthusiasm to ski and fish with all of his Jackson buddies will be missed greatly.

I have many fond and fun memories of Jeff. For me, he will always be sitting on the bench at the beach in Emerald Bay. Skimboarding, surfing, and playing volleyball. Jeff's smile and laugh were truly his signature. He was the life of every party and gathering. The world has lost a very special man. Jeff will be missed by all. My prayers to his family and friends. God Bless.

What a tragic loss not only to Jeff's family and friends, but to the world. His positive energy and lust for life are matched by few.

I will always remember Jeff, smiling, gearing up and getting ready for adventure. It goes without saying that his adventures in this life were cut short.

My deepest condolences go out to everyone who was touched by Jeff.
