I was a student of Professor Snider's back in 1999. She was passionate about education, and got real satisfaction when a student suddenly grasped a critcal thinking pathway. I know she touched many lives. RIP

I am deeply saddened to learn of Kathy Snider's passing. She was one of the most articulate, succinct, and precise professor I've ever known. Years after we graduated, we still could cite somethings she said in lecture. She was my instructor, and later my colleague. She had the sharpest sense of humor, shared other's sorrow, had the biggest laugh, and lived a life she chose exactly as she planned as if following a grid. She was a wonderful professor, and I am so glad that I've had numerous opportunities to tell her. I will miss her very, very much. Jennifer Chai, her former student.

I went to St. Ambrose Elementary School with Kathy. I would carry her books to and from school in an Army backpack. Kathy was always a great student and very kind person. In later years, Kathy would see my parents and Uncle Joe a lot. Kathy was sincere, Loving and very kind to all. May Kathy Rest In Peace....

Kathy and I grew up together in Hollywood. We attended St. Ambrose Elementary Catholic School and would walk to school together. I would carry her books up Fairfax and back home again. I had a green Army that I would put the books in. In those days, there were no computers or any electronic devices. It was pencils and papers and books. And the Sisters of Providence. They would make sure you did your work. Kathy was very close to my family and attended all of our family gatherings. Kathy was so very kind to my Mom and Dad in their later years.
Kathy gave her life in helping others and she will always be remembered as a caring and loving person. Rest in Peace Kathy. You are now with your parents and mind in Heaven.......

It is with profound sadness that I say this final goodbye to colleague and friend, Kathy Snider.
Long ago, we met on the Los Angeles Valley College Academic Senate, where she methodically and professionally moved faculty members up the path of academic rank. She also ran the Academic Senate elections with efficiency and transparency for many years.
It was my pleasure to also call her a friend. I will miss our long dinner conversations. She had sparkling wit and powerful intelligence.
My heart goes out to her dear brother, her musher family, and her beloved sled dogs. She cherished you all.
Fondly,
Richard Holdredge

I always had great respect for Kathleen, not only for work in the Nursing Dept. and the Faculty Senate, but for her moxy as a pilot, and even beyond, for her pursuing her helicopter pilot ticket. A remarkable person who will be greatly missed.

Heartfelt condolences to Kathy Snider's surviving family members, her friends, and colleagues, both on and off the Valley College campus. Having sat next to her at our last Academic Senate meeting of the Spring Semester, I was shocked and saddened to hear of her passing. In my over 3 decades as a LAVC faculty member, I never heard a disparaging word about Kathy, as educator, nurse practitioner, or colleague. She was a person of intelligence, grace, and the best of humanity, whose genuine goodness extended to the animal kingdom with her pet-rescue endeavors. A special light that never flickered, always glowed, has gone out on our mortal plan, but I'm sure burns bright amidst the perpetual lightness of the heavens, be it day or night. I'm glad I knew you, Kathy Snider, human being extraordinaire emeritus. Glow on, dear lady, glow on.

Ms. Snider was a great help in advancing rank for me. I never met her, but I wish I had a dollar for every email --and always kind, even responding to dumb questions.
My condolences to her family.

Kathy's spunk and graciousness was infectious. She will continue to be an inspiration to others, to me. I wish I could have told her how much her kindness meant to me, and how I drew strength from her presence in a room. My deep condolences.

I will remember Kathy as a colleague of many accomplishments: a woman of science, a distinguished Senator, and an individual with integrity. She had a puckish sense of humor, yet was essentially a deeply serious and dedicated professional. I will miss her very much, and I hope that each of us will remember her with a smile on our lips.

We are deeply saddened and our heartfelt wishes of sympathy go out to everyone. Kathy went above and beyond to create a way for the college to recognize the service made by adjunct faculty here at Los Angeles Valley College. Always encouraging, helpful, sweet and funny. Thank you Kathy for everything. Annie & Dennis Reed
