Lou was my step father we met in 1957 in Manhattan Beach CA I was 5 yrs old. Lou and my mother married and we moved into Santa Monica CA where they started the Happy Hour Day Care on 919 Montana Ave .Lou and I were father and son and belonged to the Indian guides we also belonged to the Vic Tanny/Jack La Lane gym and are life time members. Going on a number of field trips together, lou took me to Las Vegas in 1959 to stay at the Desert Inn for the week end . In 1963 he was one of my little League coaches, Santa Monica Kwanis american little league. At the age of 7 yrs Lou bought me my first 22 rifle. HE told me a lot about his life when he was in the US Navy, during WW 2. He served on a mine sweeped in the Asiatic Pacific Theater , 150 foot wooden ship searching for enemy ship mines. He was a signal man at the bridge of the ship, this where he told me he got a stomach ulcier, and was medically discharged in 1944.When I was 6 or 7 i asked him where him and my mom had met and he told me your mom found me in a cracker jack box. Haha of course they had met at the Surf Rider Inn at the Santa Monica pier area .Since they were Saturday night dance patrons at the surf riders. Also at the Paladium in hollywood Lawence Welk music hour they often talked to one of the violinists the LATE Bob Lido.In the 70's Lou got me my a mechanics job at the Santa Monica cab company. I later move to San Francisco. Mom and Lou eventualy divorced in 1982 and he resided in Reseda for the next 25 years. I still would visit him now and then when i visited Los Angles with my wife .Lou Sobel will be missed by me, and many other too. Michael Reed Lous's friend and neighbor thanks for all you have done for Lou and may GOD BLESS you for being Lous Guardian angel. and V.A. buddy. Michael Andrew Schwinn aka Mike Sobel.

He seemed to enjoy life and although at his age I felt badly that he was living alone he always was so positive and after visiting him whether it be at home or at the convelescent home he made me feel better having talked with him. My condolences to you & your family, You had a great dad.
