Cunneff, Nancy Elizabeth
December 1, 1954 - January 23, 2013
Nancy Elizabeth Cunneff ("Betsy") died on Jan. 23 at Duke University Hospital of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She was 58. The daughter of Danford and Suzanne Greene, Betsy was born in Santa Monica and loved the ocean and her horse, Sugie. She graduated from the University of Hawaii in 1979 and then became a Northwest Airlines flight attendant. She married her husband, Tom, in 1986 and their daughter, Katie, came along in 1995. In 2006, the family moved to Hilton Head Island, S.C., where Betsy continued to fly for the airlines, while also working at the animal shelter, taking her beloved dog, Holiday, for walks on the beach, being a terrific wife and mother, and devouring a book a week. She passed away peacefully at 7:35 pm surrounded by her family.
The funeral will be held at Gates Mortuary in Santa Monica on Feb. 9 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to either the Hilton Head Humane Association (hhhumane.org) or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (lls.org).
