William Jacobson Obituary

June 24, 1945 - January 30, 2026 William Peter Jacobson, a distinguished entertainment attorney, devoted football coach, and family man, passed away on January 30, 2026, leaving a legacy of integrity and mentorship. Born to Irving and Evelyn (Arkin) Jacobson in Los Angeles in 1945, Bill and his brothers, Joel and Steve, grew up in Beverlywood, where Bill graduated from Castle Heights Elementary, Louis Pasteur Junior High School, and Hamilton High School. Later, at Colorado College, Bill was a three-sport letterman in football, golf, and track and field, and enjoyed fraternity life at Kappa Sigma.

A proud alumnus of the UCLA School of Law, Bill served as Senior Editor of the Law Review, where his 1969 scholarship on criminal restitution earned a cover quote in US Law Weekly. Nearly as significant to him, Bill's UCLA Law flag football team beat USC Law's team that was quarterbacked by Heisman Trophy winner Terry Baker. After law school, Bill served his country as a Captain in the JAG Corps of the US Army and as an artillery forward observer at Fort Sill.

Throughout his 50-year-plus career as an entertainment attorney, Bill was revered as a fierce, tireless advocate who prioritized his clients' success above all else. His colleagues and clients alike leaned on his steady judgment, profound experience, and a generosity of spirit that defined his professional life. Bill also enjoyed taking time to mentor many young colleagues who would become successful attorneys and executives in Los Angeles.

Bill found his greatest joy in his family and community. His office was filled with photographs of his loved ones, who will forever cherish his self-deprecating humor, the life lessons he modeled through his actions, and how he showed up for them throughout their lives. For more than 20 years, Bill also volunteered as a high school football coach at Hamilton, Palisades, and Fairfax, whose team upset an undefeated Los Angeles High School squad to win the Division II City championship in 2015. For Bill, coaching was an extension of his role as a mentor, using the sport to instill accountability, confidence, and character in his players.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Tiiu; his children, Seth (and Anna), David, Lindsay (and Zachary), and Bo (and Jessica); and six cherished grandchildren. He will be missed by his many lifelong friends, colleagues, players, and extended family, including his nephews and nieces, who adored him. It's remarkable how many of them say that Bill was like a second father to them. His memory will be a blessing to all of them.

Fortunately, I knew Jake in college as a fraternity brother. That friendship was renewed at a pow wow in Colorado Springs. Jake was very funny and those stories will remain in our minds. My life is better having known Jake. RIP my friend.

So sorry about the loss of Bill. He was a teammate of mine at Colorado College on the football team. We had lockers next to each other for two years. Hew was great at humor, support, and bond that teammates have. So glad to have had those years with Bill, as a fraternity brother, teammate, golfing partner and friend.
