Michael John Humphries

Michael John Humphries, valiantly succumbing to his cancer battle, passed away on July 22, 2023, at the age of 57 in Newport Beach, CA. He was born on April 27, 1966, at the US Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, VA. Michael was a kind and loving man who will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Megan, his family and life long friends.Michael is survived by his wife, Megan Treller, his mother, Patricia Hogan Humphries, his Father, Harry Humphries and step mother Catherine Ferrarie Humphries, his brother, William Humphries, and sister, Susan Humphries.Michael graduated from Woodbridge High School in Irvine, CA. He furthered his studies earning three degrees; a BA in Religious Studies and English, ultimately obtaining his Masters Degree from Cal State University, Long Beach.Throughout his career he pursued his life's passion for Martial Arts, finally studying under his beloved Sifu, Richard Tsim, at the Lau Kune Do Temple of Martial Arts in Long Beach, CA. It was there that he worked his way up to becoming a Tai Chi and Kung Fu Instructor, and met his wife Megan. Michael held various professional positions while studying in college, showcasing his expertise and dedication. He was employed as a Quality Control Chemist for a Cosmetics Products manufacturing company in Long Beach. Following this, he turned his focus towards a strong desire to impart knowledge and became an English Teacher at Lakewood High School in the Long Beach Unified School District.Michael's life was filled with accomplishments and meaningful connections. While always the silent professional and intellectual, he also had a cutting wit and great sense of humor. His legacy will be remembered by life long friends and all those blessed to have had him in their lives.
