Mrs. Fiedler was my 4th-grade teacher in Long Beach, CA, at Grant Elementary in the 1976-77 school year. She remains the best teacher I´ve ever had.
Imagine my surprise when, as a high school senior, I visited her and discovered she still remembered my name. Even more amazing, she had one of my past assignments on display as an example for her current students.
Mrs. Fiedler didn´t just teach; she ignited a passion for learning and exploration in her students. Through her, I learned about Japanese culture-an interest that later led me to live and work in Japan (I am married to a wonderful Japanese woman). She also introduced me to palindromes (like "madam" or "racecar"), taught me how to make soap, and even how to create macramé (does anyone remember that anymore?).
Mrs. Fiedler´s influence continues to inspire me to keep learning and growing, and I believe that´s part of the reason she lived to be 92. I hope they didn´t break the mold when they made her, because I still aspire to be like her, though I fall far short, yet I hope to inspire others in the same way she inspired me.
Mrs. Fiedler, you are still with me steadily, and forever coloring the way I think and grow.

I met Rosemary through my job at CSULB in the Center for International Education. She hosted international students in her home, and I arranged for several of them to stay with her. I admired Rosemary's intellect, knowledge, and active lifestyle. We had many interesting conversations about the state of the world, her travels, and other matters. She was kind and considerate. A wonderful woman who is missed. Best to her family.

I met Mrs. Fiedler when she was a substitute at Gompers Elem. She became a tutor for both my my daughters when they needed math help. I have thought about her from time to time and was saddened to read of her passing.

I have fond memories of your Mom assisting with all the activities at St. Cornelius when we were going up. Your Mom was a dear friend of my mother, Virginia. She would ride her bike over daily to check on my Mom when she could no longer get out and about. What a treasure and a gift your Mom was to so may lives. Susan Bosley, LB, Ca.

Mrs. Fiedler was my 4th grade teacher at Starr King. She always gave me lots of attention and made me feel special. She tested us on the names of plants and made mosaics. She told me my necklace was unique. To this day I think of her every time I hear the word unique.

I have to call her Mrs. Fiedler even though she encouraged me to call her Rosemary as I re-met her in adulthood. She was my 4th grade teacher at Newcomb in 1967, and in retrospect she was one of my favorites even if at the time her (necessary) strictness with a bunch of rebellious 9 year olds didn't sit too well. She had a great sense of humour and was very supportive of me when our paths crossed as I was just graduating high school. It;s more than forty years later but I know I'm a better, more educated person for being in her class. Thank you to her family for sharing her with all her students.
Meeting up in Long Beach in May 2003.

I had the priviledge to met Rosemary back in 1993 when I stayed at her place as an exchange student. I've got to know her as a truly great person full of energy, good spirits and always up to connect people with one another and to learn from them. Her sense of humor was infectious and the stories she had to tell fascinating.
I've visited her a few times since returning from Long Beach and we always had a good time talking about the past, present and future. She would still go on bike rides and for swims in her backyard pool.
Thinking of her still makes me smile.
I would like to offer my sincerest condolences to her extended family, knowing that she will have passed on many of her traits onto them. Best wishes, and God bless!

I was lucky enough to have been in her Fourth grade class in 1974 at US Grant elementary school. She taught more about life than many of the teachers that i ever had over the years. She will always be remembered.

Mrs. Fiedler was always so nice when my husband Dave and I came in contact with her. She was so lovely and supportive when Dave passed away. My prayers are with her family.

Mrs. Fiedler was my fourth grade teacher at Newcomb. We studied Japan and she had us sew our own Kimono! She was wonderful!
