Jenny Bates

Jenny K. Bates, 35, of Las Cruces, loving daughter, mother, and friend died Saturday, August 20, 2011. She was born on November 28, 1975 in Roswell, NM to Donna Showers. Jenny was a veteran of the US Navy where she served our country honorably. She was also a mail carrier for US Postal Service with years of faithful service. Jenny enjoyed music, dancing, billiards, animals, and the outdoors. She had a love for all and enjoyed being in the company of people. Jenny was a true humanitarian and tried to help any human or animal in need. She recently returned to her dream in life and was excited to continue college at New Mexico State University. Her true love of life was for her two sons. Jenny will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her. You gave the gift of life to us, and then in love, you set us free. We thank you for your tender care, for deep warm hugs and being there. I hope that when you think of us, a part of you, we'll always see." ~Author Unknown~ Jenny is survived by her parents Donna and Fred Johnson; her sons Jaden Frederick and Xavion Ja'Shon; Grandmother, Valerie Showers; aunts and uncles Wanda and James Cunningham, Darrell and Helen Showers, Allen Showers, Carrie and Dale Sanford, and Dennis Showers. She is also survived by cousins Darrell Cunningham, Jody Rico, Jamie Cunningham, Shalisa Showers, Angela Lindsey, Clinton Showers, Levi Showers, Jimmy Showers, Samantha Showers, Daniel Showers, Randy Sanford, Glen Sanford, Sherrie Susco, Walter Showers, Elisha Showers, and Kelsey Showers. She is also survived by many other great aunts, uncles and cousins. Jenny was preceded in death by her grandfather Jim Showers and great grandparents Marcus and Ola Quick. A memorial service to celebrate Jenny's life will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 10:00 am at Getz Funeral Home Chapel with Jess Williams officiating. In Lieu of flowers Jenny's family asks that donations be made to a College fund at First Light Federal Credit Union so her boys can complete her dream of a college education.
