Juan Silva Obituary

Juan (Johnny) B. Silva, Jr, 67, of Pueblo West, CO entered into eternal life on Wednesday, April 13, 2016. He was the son of Alicia and the late Juan A. Silva. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia and a brother, Louie. Johnny will be forever and lovingly remembered by his wife Dianne (Dot) Silva of Pueblo West, CO, his son Juan Manuel Pancho Schweibert of Germany, mother Alicia B. Silva, sisters Cora Ramirez and Mary Thorne and husband Dan, brothers Jimmy Silva and wife Lydia, Jesus (Chuy) Silva and wife Lorraine, Javier Silva and wife Erica and Jacob Silva and wife Tracy as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Johnny graduated from Gadsden High School in 1967 before joining the United States Army. He retired in 1998 as Sergeant Major after serving his country for 30 years. He then went to work for the US Postal Service in Colorado Springs, CO, where he worked for 15 years before deciding to retire in 2014. After his retirement from the Post Office he was able to spend much more time doing what he loved most which was playing golf. Johnny took advantage of every opportunity he could to be out on the golf course. When he wasn't playing golf he enjoyed watching westerns or war stories on tv, especially John Wayne. While living in Colorado Springs Johnny was an active 4th degree knight in the local Knights of Columbus serving St. Joseph's church. Funeral Services for Johnny will be held on Friday, April 29th, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. The holy rosary to start at 9:00 a.m. with funeral mass immediately following.

Wow I just happen to randomly search SGM Silva up and found this. I worked for him at DPCA at Fort Carson from 1994-1996. I very much enjoyed my time working for him.

Dot, Tia and Primos, my most heartfelt condolences to you all in this time of loss and sorrow. May God truly give you strength and peace at this time. Johnny had such a sense of humor and sense of family. Although he hadn't lived "at home" in Anthony for quite a while, he always made the most of his presence when around us all. I can still hear him calling me "Maria !" with that joking tone of his. He will definitely be missed.

Dear Sgm Johnny B. Silva. I write this line for you brother with tears in my eyes. Even though you spent most of your life away because of your service to your country, you always found your way back home from time to time. The daily calls you made to mom will forever be missed by her. Your (corny) sense of humor is what I will miss the most. It was my privilege to call you "Sgm" and to call you my brother. I will miss you brother.
