William Lucero Obituary
Survivors include his son, Dominic Altamirano; his daughter, Deandra Altamirano; his father, Arturo Vega; five brothers, Arthur Lucero and wife Carmen, Matthew Valenzuela and wife Teresa, Gene Valenzuela and wife Susan all of Las Cruces, Michael Lucero and wife Richelle of Albuquerque, and Andrew Lucero and wife Lupe of El Paso, Texas; two sisters, Mary Lou Rodriguez and husband Michael, and Nancy Herrera and husband Matthew all also of Las Cruces; Willard's dearest friend and soul mate, Jessica Camuñez of Las Cruces; his maternal great grandmother, Angelita Hernandez and his paternal grandmother, Nora Vega; his god daughter, Ashlynn Lucero. Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Genevieve V. Lucero in March 2007, his brother Rudy "Chava" Lucero, Jr. in April 1996, his maternal grandparents, Carmelo and Guadalupe Valenzuela, his paternal grandfather, Benito Vega and his cousin, Hector Vega, Jr.
Visitation for William will begin at 6 PM Friday, September 14, 2007 in Calvary Christian Center, 4211 Elks Drive where the Prayer Service is scheduled at 7 PM. Family and friends will gather to celebrate William's Life 10 AM Saturday, September 15, 2007 in the same church with his uncle, Pastor Hector Vega, officiating. Concluding Service and Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery, 760 S. Compress Road where he will be laid to rest along side his mother and brother.
Serving as casket bearers will be Michael Rodriguez, Matthew Herrera, Andy Lucero, Mario Vega, Kiddo Saenz, Richard Hanway, and Richard Johnson. Honorary bearers will be Jared Medina, Ray Limon, Arturo Banegas, Frankie Valenzuela, Candice Camuñez, Loretta Diaz, Gilbert "Gibbo" Caldwell, Kevin Lyons, Xavier Estrada, , Freddy Valenzuela, Lionel Johnson, James Bonnet, Adam "Nene" Nevarez, Ronnie Enriquez, Brian Montoya, Michael Florez, and Jaime Vega.
In honor of William the family request that white dress shirts and black pants be worn to the services to show unity for our dearly departed brother.
The Lucero family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels at 300 E. Boutz Rd Las Cruces, NM 527-2222 to direct the services.

Hey primo, it has been a long and windy day today! As I sit looking outside my window.. Thoughts of the most precious memories we shared together... The laughs, tears, joys, sorrows. Whatever the reason we were always there to comfort eachother with Godly wisdom! There is not a day that goes by with you on mind!! As well the boys.. Oh how much you loved Daryl (bubbles) I make it a point to keep you alive in their hearts..with tears of saddnes that roll down Kamerons cheeks, with the questions.. Why William mom? We are doing great! You know mine and Jaimes ups and downs ;) but, we serve a mighty God!! And made it a point not to let the enemy destroy what God has joined together!! we have a beautiful house down in the valley by Taylor rd! God has blessed me with a new car... Put it like this! God has just been good to us.. (Give my Heavenly Father a huge kiss for me and tell Him thank you for being so good to us!! One more question before I go, Victor Trejo-" my boyfriend the time of his dissapearance!!!" If he happens to be in paradise with all of you.. We miss you so much there is not a day that goes by that we don't mention you in a consversation, you would be so excited to see all the kids growing up and what they are doing, Ashlynn misses you so much and prays to you every night in her bedtime prayers she talks about you constantly. I cant believe its been close to 2yrs. since you were taken from us, God only knows why. When I see your kids it comforts me to know we were not left empty handed...I see you through them and it eases my pain having them as a part of our family. The sun doesnt shine the way it used to, its gotten dimmer since you and mom departed us,but Im sure where you and mom and Chava are it shines very bright as you all have no pain to deal with, so until then, I will keep you very close to my heart and cherish the times God gave us with you. Dear William, we celebrated your birthday once again. It was really nice being with Domonic and Deandra. I am so honored they are part of our lives. They are wonderful, great and beautiful young adults that love your very much. I was trying to show them a movie of my grandson and low and behold a movie of you came on, it was really emotional. Our interpretation was that it was meant to be that we would see you on this day and you were close by. We think of you daily and remember the good times. William I can not believe that the holidays have came and gone twice already. My son was only 3 when you passed away but he still remembers you, every now and then he will ask for you, he wants to know when he will see you again. Dear William: How I wish we could roll back this year and continue on our happy way as it was way back then. I miss you more each day, and it doesn't seem to get easier. Time is not working on our side, the bad feelings have not subsided and I ask God everyday to bring you back. I know this cannot be, and it is not that I doubt him, it is only my wish. Today is the day I have dreaded the most bro. Now it's here and I'm having a very hard time thinking of you. But I will do my best to keep it together today, it's just that we used to share our B-days for so long that it all seems unfair to have to do it alone. You and I were suppose to share our birthdays together this year.... Your B-day is in two days and this is not how we planned to celebrate it.
It was hard to lose you and Mom in such short time, it has not been the same without you both here but we keep going on.....

William - You were the best and his news was not what anyone ever wanted to hear. We remember one day back when we were at NMSU and you saw our fridge empty. You put food in there and got us through the semester. That is but one example of your generosity and kindness. We all miss you. This news made all of us very sad. I did not know William very well; though we were fellow students in last years Social Work class he was a very kind intelligent and thoughtful,yet quiet young man.
