Dale DeBruin Obituary

Dale Harold DeBruin, 80, of Boyd, passed away Sunday, April 20 at the Chippewa County Veterans' Home in Chippewa Falls. Dale was born August 26, 1944 to Harold and Genevieve (Crook) DeBruin.

He attended St. Joseph's Grade School and Cadott High School. He then worked at a factory in Waukesha. From 1965-1967 he was enlisted in the U.S. Army. After his discharge in 1967, he worked as a mechanic in Boyd.

On December 28, 1968 he married the love of his life, Charlene Ryba. After their marriage, he went to work as a farmhand for Roman and Arlevah Backhaus in 1969. In 1971, Dale and Charlene purchased their own dairy farm near Boyd and farmed until 1997 until he retired due to his health.

Dale was a member of All Saints Parish and the Boyd American Legion for 58 years.

Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and playing cards. He also enjoyed going on bus trips with his wife, Charlene.

Dale is survived by his wife of 56 years, Charlene; his children, Laurie (Pat) Fitzgerald, Pam Neuenfeldt, Brad (April Licht) DeBruin, and Kim (Dan) Derks. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Mitchell (Kelsey), Jamie, and Amber Fitzgerald; Jacob and Hunter (Lexie) Neuenfeldt; Vanessa, Raquel, Austin, and Kailee DeBruin; and Andrew (McKenna), Alexxis (Erik), and Alyssa Derks. He is further survived by his great-grandchildren, Felicity, Aurora, Arya, and Whitney; his sister, Beverly (Rick) Burke; sisters-in-law, Judy (Dennis) McQuillan, Roxie (Jim) Konsella, and Donna Olsen; brothers-in-law, Jeff (Cathy) Ryba, and Tom Ryba; and by many cousins, relatives, and friends.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws Harold and Emily Ryba; and his son-in-law, Nick Neuenfeldt.

A service of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 28 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church-Boyd with Deacon Ned Willkom officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Monday at the Church. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Northern WI Veterans' Cemetery-Spooner.
