Arthur Young Obituary

Arthur H. ""Buddy"" Young, 84, of Vandalia, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014, in Jensen Beach, Fla.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, with a rosary at 9:30 a.m., at Mother of Dolors Catholic Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. John Titus officiating. A private burial is planned. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at the church, with a rosary at 4 p.m. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Our Sorrowful Mothers Ministry or Vandalia Volunteer Fire Department. Online condolences may be shared at www.millerfh.net.
Mr. Young was born on March 25, 1929, in Litchfield, the son of Elmer E. and Lelia E. Parrott Young. He married Patricia ""Pat"" Welsh on Oct. 14, 1950; she passed away on Jan. 28, 1993. He married Janet R. Jones Beatty on May 17, 1997, in Las Vegas, Nev.
He was the president and owner/operator of Arthur Young Inc. since 1960; was a member of Mother of Dolors Catholic Church, Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club, all of Vandalia; was a past chairman of the board of the Illinois Automobile Dealers Association (1976); and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserves.
He is survived by his wife; son, Dennis A. Young and his wife Angela of Vandalia; daughter, Deborah and her husband Don Pryor of Vandalia; grandchildren, Dawn Nelson, Allison Hall, Luke Young and Micah Wright; and great-grandchildren, Hailey and Patrick Nelson, Hayden Hall, Evan Young and Calvin Wright.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; and sister, Doris Coatney.
