Carrie Hudson Obituary

Carrie B. Walker Hudson May 8, 1915- November 8, 2007 COLUMBUS, GA— Mrs. Carrie B. Walker Hudson, 92, of 7150 Manor Rd., Columbus passed away Thursday at Muscogee Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at Friendship Baptist Church, Hamilton, GA with the Rev. LaCoya Day, officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Fortson, GA. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home according to Hill-Watson Memorial Chapel. Mrs. Hudson was born May 8, 1915 in Harris County, GA to the late Leola Barnes Walker and the late Jacob Walker. She was a homemaker. Other than her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Roosevelt Hudson; two sisters, Emma L. Parham and Annie Lee Walker; and two brothers, Willie Lee Walker, Sr. and Cephus Walker. She moved to Cleveland, OH as a young woman. Mrs. Hudson later joined Friendship Baptist Church in Cleveland and served as a faithful servant on the Senior Usher Board. It was at this church that she was united in matrimony on July 7, 1962 to her late husband Roosevelt Hudson. He preceded her in death in 1987. She moved back to Columbus, GA in 1988 where she again reunited with Friendship Baptist Church of Hamilton, GA. She served on the Senior Usher Board until her health started to fail. She loved being a doorkeeper of the church. On November 8, 2007, God embraced Carrie Bell Hudson in his arms. He welcomed her home as she departed this life at the Muscogee Manor Nursing Home. She leaves to cherish her memory four nieces, Shirley Huntley (Roger) of Clarksville, TN, Annie L. Walker of Hamilton, GA, Selena Johnson (Alfonsa) of Chicago, IL, and Dorothy J. Marshall (Curtis) of Decatur, GA; two nephews, Willie L. Walker, Jr. (Audrey) of Columbus, GA and Jacob Walker (Linda) of Hamilton, GA; two great nieces; four great nephews; one special and devoted cousin, Malue Farley (Walter) of Hamilton, GA; three first Cousins, Eddie Thornton of Atlanta, GA, Mable Dozier of Columbus, GA, and Eula Mae Jemison of Jacksonville, FL; and a host of other family members and friends. My deepest sympathy go out to the family of Mrs. Hudson. I got to know her while visiting my mother-law at the home. They were roommate.
