Charlette Chambers Obituary

Charlette D.
Chambers
May 11, 1961-
October 24, 2017
Phenix City, AL- Mrs. Charlette Denise Reed Chambers was born in LaGrange, Georgia on May 11, 1961 to Gladys Burton Reed and Henry Frank Reed, Sr. She is a proud alumna of LaGrange High School where she was a varsity cheerleader, member of the National Honor Society, and active in a variety of extracurricular organizations. Upon graduation, Charlette received a full scholarship to Emory University where she obtained a Bachelor's degree in Economics. She later earned her Juris Doctor, with honors, from George Washington University Law School.
Charlette practiced law in both the private and public sector, including working as a staff attorney at the Tennessee Attorney General's Office. Although she left the practice of law to focus on raising her four children, she re-entered the workforce as the practice director for Chambers OB/GYN. In addition to establishing a successful career, Charlette was a dynamic servant leader in the community. She was active in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Rho Rho Omega Chapter, and the Columbus, Georgia Chapter of The Links, Inc. She was an associate life member of the Columbus, Georgia Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc. and also served as the President of the Auxiliary to the Columbus-Ft. Benning Medical Society.
Most important of all, Charlette was a true believer in Christ. She was relied upon by countless family and friends as a prayer warrior and constant source of spiritual encouragement. Her passion for Jesus was apparent in her enthusiastic involvement in Allen Temple A.M.E. Church of Columbus, Georgia for over 20 years. As a member, she faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher and choir member.
Charlette married the love of her life, Crandall M. Chambers, on May 19, 1984. Together, they raised four beautiful children, Wesley, Janille, Charis, and Christian. Charlette served in a variety of roles in life, but being a mother was always number one. Her legacy continues on through her children, daughter-in-law Shannon, grandchildren John-Andrew, Jada, and Kyle, siblings Henry, Wendy and Kimberly and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Chambers will be held Monday, October 30, 2017 at 11:30 at St. John AME Church with Reverend Wayland C. Conner officiating. There will be a private interment. Visitation is Today, October 29, 2017 from 1 til 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at progressivefuneralhome.com.
