Columbus, GA- Jeremy Lee Godwin, 33, of Columbus, GA, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am EDT Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. Randy Comer officiating. A private interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens on Monday. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home on Saturday.
Jeremy was born December 30, 1980 in Columbus, GA to Gary Lee Godwin and Rena Jade Tokuda. He was an automobile technician and had work with Affordable Auto Care and as a printer for Ledger Enquirer. He enjoyed working on cars, helping friends with their stereo systems, was a Baptist by faith and most of all loved spending time with his children. Jeremy was preceded in death by his step-grandparents, Jerry Benfield, Sr. and Mr. Francis Walk.
He is survived by his mother, Rena Jade Benfield Tokuda and Shane of Hamilton, GA and father, Gary Lee Godwin of Smiths Station, AL
Children, Alyssa Godwin and Donavan Godwin, both of Columbus, GA, one brother, Nicholas Sizemore and wife Stephanie of Fortson, GA, two nephews, Collier Sizemore and Reed Sizemore
Maternal grandparents, Rose Mary Walk of Colu mbus, GA, and Seiko Tokuda of California; paternal grandparents, John and Dorothy Godwin of Smiths Station, AL, step-father, Dennis Sizemore and fiancée Angie of Box Springs, GA, numerous other loving family members and many caring friends.

I would have never thought a year ago today, I would wake up tomorrow without you. I can only thank God for the strength that He has given me to get me through this last year. Losing you has been the most painful thing I have ever experienced in my entire life. I never thought you would leave this life before me. I thought you & Nick would be holding my hand saying your last goodbyes to me. No I know you will be waiting to hug & welcome me when it is my time to join you.
