Our sincere condolences to the Bolen family in the loss of this American soldier and strong husband, father, and grandfather. As members of Milledge Avenue Baptist Church, where Edward is pastor, we feel that we knew this man, and his family, through Edward's many autobiographical introductions to his sermons. The picture he painted was of a tough, tender, man with high expectations for his children, supported by a strong life's companion and nurturing nurse in Wilma Bolen.
It is never easy to lose a parent, but it is made bearable knowing that John Bolen lived a full life, set an inspiring example for his children and grandchildren, served his country with honor and his community with a generous spirit, and has gone on to be with his Redeemer. Most importantly, his spirit lives on through the lives of his children and grandchildren.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. With love, Carroll and Joan Humphries
