Steven R. Swartz May 8, 1953 - February 6, 2009 SEALE, AL— Steven R. Swartz, 55, of Seale, AL died Friday, February 6, 2009 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM EST Tuesday at Vance Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Gene Cook officiating. Internment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM EST at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Neil Owens, Dave Dobson, Allen Green, Ronnie Coleman, Mike Niles, and Dennis Melanie. Mr. Swartz was born May 8, 1953 in Waterloo, IA, son of Beverly Swartz and the late Billy Raymond Swartz. He worked as a General Contract and served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Swartz was a lifelong member of the VFW Post 5228 and he loved to play a variety of musical instruments. Other than his father, he was preceded in death by his son, Steven Swartz, Jr. and a brother, Michael Swartz. Other than his mother, he is survived by his wife, Eva Mitchell Swartz of Seale, AL; one step-son, Robert "Rob" Mitchell of Seale, AL; grandmother, Mabel Hall of LaCross, WI; four sisters, Karla Balderoes and husband, Hector of San Antonio, TX, Sharon Barron of Salem, AL, Rhonda Tutherow and husband, Randy of Columbus, GA and Rochelle Parker of Salem, AL; two brothers, Mark Swartz and wife, Kimberly of Salem, AL and Daniel Swartz of Salem, AL; two grandchildren, Colton Mitchell and Caleb Mitchell, both of Seale, AL; and several nieces and nephews.
