Chief Mott had the uncanny ability to sense when you needed a pat on the shoulder. One of the few leaders that was as much of a friend as he was your Supervisor. He earned your respect for his abilities, he earned your trust and support because of who he was as a human being.

It is with such sadness that I found out about Gene's passing today. As cousins we grew up having such fun times and I loved him dearly. He was a wonderful man and I send our sympathies to his family and friends.

Such a fine man. He left a lasting legacy on the Columbus Police Department and on our city. No one was better at community relations than Wesley. He sincerely cared about people, and everyone in our city really cared about him. He will be so missed. Rest in peace Wesley.

Wesley was a fine person and a very good Law Enforcement officer. I was assigned with Wesley during the 1996 Olympics in Columbus when I was An Internal Affairs Investigator with the GDC, and had known him for almost 30 years.
Prayers to the family and Especially Mrs Mott.
