Willie Simmons Obituary

Ret. SFC Willie Simmons December 15, 1932- September 3, 2005 COLUMBUS, GA— Ret. SFC Willie Simmons, 72, of 3043 Edgewood Court, Columbus, died Sept. 3 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8 at Main Post Chapel, Ft. Benning, GA, with burial in the Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL, according to Taylor Funeral Home, Phenix City. Visitation will be held from 12 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Simmons was born Dec. 15, 1932 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, son of the late Euszette Simmons and Julius Simmons. He retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service. Survivors include wife, Sarah Simmons, Columbus; two sons, Rodney Simmons of Houston, TX, and Larry (Anna) Tolbert of Opelika, AL; one daughter, JoAnn Tolbert of Opelika; one brother, William (Dee) Simmons of Milwaukee, WI; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
