Words alone simply cannot express the loss you must feel with the passing of your father, husband and brother. We don't get back to Opelika like we used to, but do think of you often and especially now. Knowing that God will give you the strength you will need in the coming days, I know you are thankful for Winston's life with you. He was a humble, godly man, and I am sure that as he entered into heaven God surely said, "Well done my good and faithful servant."
He was exemplary of a quiet, steady Christian man, husand, father, brother and community leader. I suspect he did a great deal service that only our Heavenly Father knows about. We are thankful for your friendship over the years and will be praying for you during your loss. WE LOVE ALL YOU SMITH T'S and may God bless you.

Dearest Vera, Karen and I just learned of Winston's death and are deeply saddened. I loved that man. He was good to me and to my family, and we cherish our memories. I do not have to tell you he was a giant of a man in so many ways, a classic family man, a Renaissance man, gentle, humble, and an awesome role model. We feel like we've lost a member of our family. Please give our love to all of the children and to Joanne. We love you dearly and you are in our heart and prayers. Love, Greg and Karen

To all of the Smith T Family, my sympathy. --An "Opelika Icon" he was---it was ingrained in Winston. A "Town Scribe" for our Website -Class of 1952, he was.--- Just a wonderful writer.! Winston knew, and was friends with my brother, James[Dugan] Golden, at Clift High. This is wonderful to know, now. I remember seeing Winston in the ' Halls' at high school, always friendly with everyone. Those are good memories. May all of your good memories of him help to sustain you now. Sincerely , Minnie Lou Golden Ellis[ Doe ]

Dr. Joann Smith T,
I am so very sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you. I skim the Auburn/Opelika website frequently and saw todays headline. I just wanted to let you know that I was thinking of you and do often. I have fond memories of visiting the office (to see my mom, Marie Treadwell) and seeing you too. My prayers are with you and your family.

I would see Winston, each time I visited Opelika. I always attend our Clift HS Class of 1952 reunion. We would sit at the "Old Geezers" coffee club and discuss years gone bye. I will miss him as others will I am sure. My prayers and thought go out to his family.
