Nora Bryant Obituary

JAFFREY - Nora Barton Bryant, 77, died early Saturday morning, September 15, 2018, at the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, following a period of declining health due to cancer.
She was born in Falls Church, Virginia, on February 16, 1941, the daughter of Hubert C. and Rosamund (Churchill) Barton, Jr. She was a student at the Brattleboro Union High School, Class of 1959.
After high school she married a classmate, Ward Charles Bryant, on September 17, 1960. Together they raised two children, living first at the seacoast in Hampton Falls, then moving to Jaffrey in 1978.
In 1986 she happened to take a class which led to a 30-plus year career as a real estate agent. In recent years she worked at The Masiello Group's Better Homes and Gardens office in Peterborough.
Nora was a member of the Jaffrey Women's Club, The Friends of the Library, The Jaffrey Historical Society, and the Jaffrey Conservation Commission.
As an avid reader, she was especially fond of May Sarton, and also took great pleasure in the garden flowers she tended at her home - often hanging them to dry on old hooks in the wood beams of her kitchen ceiling. She also liked nature shows and old British programs like, "All Creatures Great and Small." Recently, she joked about delighting in all the birds and wildlife in her yard - "All creatures great and small, mostly small."
She is survived by: her children, Bethany Bryant of Fort Mill, SC and Barton W. Bryant and his wife Leisl of Mont Vernon, NH; her sister, Sherwood Bromley of Putney, VT; a niece, Nevada Bromley of Putney, VT; three grandchildren, Kyle Bryant of Charlotte, NC, Morgan Dyer of Beverly, MA, and Sarah Gage and her husband Joshua of W. Springfield, MA; and a great-granddaughter, Addison Brooke Bryant. She was predeceased by: her mother, Rosamund Churchill (Barton) Guild; her father, Hubert Crampton Barton, Jr.; and a brother, Hubert C. Barton, III.
Calling hours will be held at the Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River St., Jaffrey, on Friday, September 21, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Graveside committal services will be held privately in Amherst, MA at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Nora B. Bryant's name, to the Jaffrey Conservation Commission, c/o: Town of Jaffrey, 10 Goodnow St., Jaffrey, NH 03452.
