Robert Gammel Obituary

NEW IPSWICH - Robert J. "Bob" Gammel, 53, of New Ipswich, died Thursday May 7, 2015 suddenly at his home. He was born Nov. 9, 1961, son of Philip J. Gammel Sr. and Beatrice Gammel.

Bob owned his own business Gammel Electric of several years. He was best known for always having a positive outlook in life, living every day to the fullest, always having a helping hand to anyone in need, and having a story or joke to share with anyone around him. His sense of humor was priceless. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his wife, three sons and mother-in-law traveling to new places and repeat places as a family. They all just returned home from a Disney Vacation. He was like a kid himself when it came to theme parks and rides and watching his family enjoy themselves made him the happiest. His other passions were his love for his community and involvement with the sports for all the children in the town. He was a basketball, baseball and soccer coach and when not doing that he would be seen showing his support for all the games in town located near his home at the New Ipswich playground. Bob made a positive impact on anyone he came in contact with and his family and community have lost an important figure.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 17 years and best friend, Kerry Dawn (Stone) Gammel and their three amazing sons, Joshua James Gammel, Kevin James Gammel and Ethan James Gammel, his brothers, David Gammel of Ayer, Mass. Thomas Gammel of Lunenburg, Mass. and sister, Donna Bellabarba of Gardner, Mass.

Calling hours and services for Bob will be announced on www.cournoyerfh.com as soon as they are finalized.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Friends of New Ipswich Parks & Recreation.

I can't believe 5 years have passed. I just was reading email and Bob's face was smiling in a pic with a message from Legacy. Bob was a great family man who was loved by so many and is truly an unforgettable man. On more than one occasion if we needed something fixed Bob was right there. I'm so glad to have had the chance to know him and he is truly missed. Love and hugs to all the family.

I'm saddened to hear of Bob's passing. He used to come into PSNH for meter sockets. You could always count on his contagious smile, upbeat personality and a happy or funny story about his wife and kids. He was so proud of his family and loved being a dad. He will truly be missed...he was an awesome guy! So sorry for your loss.

I am still in shock of the passing of Bob. He was a huge part of my families life. Every year we either went camping, to the beach to a water park and recently went to a comedy show. He was our leader he brought a lot of families together each year for at least one vacation if not two. Just Monday we talked about going to the Berkshire's to a water park. We are going to miss his laughter, jokes, and love for family and friends always wanting people to be happy. R.I.P Bob thanks for all the good times. God Bless you Kerry, Josh, Kevin and Ethen you are in our thoughts and prayers. Love you guys.

To Bob's Family,
I am shocked and saddened to hear of the untimely passing of another childhood buddy. We called him "Bristles" as a kid in the old neighborhood. Bristles is a part of many fond memories from kindergarten through high school. He won't be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and children.

I am shocked and saddened after reading about Bob's death in the Monadnock Ledger today. I liked Bob for his humor, kind heart and his Christian beliefs. He did work for me too in the past and was a fair man whose smile and optimistic attitude brightened my day.
I am so sorry for Bob's family for he was such a blessing and I know many people will feel the pain of his loss for a long time. God bless the Gammel family.

Kerry & boys,
Words cannot express how sorry we are for you loss. Bob was a rare gem. His kindness, generosity, love for his family and his community could be seen in the gleam in his eyes. His smile was infectious and he could change your mood from bad to good with ones of his jokes or stories. The time and energy he devoted to not only his own kids but all of the kids in the community was priceless. They all knew and respected him. We are all lucky to have had him somehow touch our lives. Prayers and hugs to all of you.
