Sandra Peschke Obituary

PETERBOROUGH – Sandra G. Peschke, 70, died unexpectedly on April 21, 2017 at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts. Sandy was born in Bath, New York on December 20, 1946, the daughter of Joseph Grosfelt and Helen (Chaploney) Grosfelt. Sandy grew up in Bath, New York and attended Bath schools. She lived in the Nashua/Manchester area before finding a home in Peterborough where she has resided for the last 27 years. Sandy earned her Bachelor's Degree in English from The University of New Hampshire before going on to obtain her Master's of Social Work from Boston University. While working towards her Master's Degree, Sandy completed her internship at Pheasant Wood Center in Peterborough where her caring and compassionate personality left an impression on everyone she met. Sandy worked for the Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester as a Clinical Therapist for 20 years. She loved her work and shared her joy and goodness with her patients and coworkers. Sandy was a lover of nature. She found great joy and peace while spending time outdoors watching birds, trail walking with her cherished dogs, working on her nature photography or kayaking. Exercise and physical health were important to Sandy and many people who knew her would say she woke up every day and hit the ground running. Sandy supported her community by donating to the local Peterborough Food Pantry and the Monadnock Humane Society. She was an avid reader, enjoying the classics such as Faulkner, Fitzgerald and her great love, Hemingway. Sandy's compassion, gentleness and lust for life will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Sandy is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Alan Peschke of Peterborough and her daughter Jesse Davis and her husband Sherman, of Nashua. She will also be missed by her siblings, Ann Carenza and her husband, Dennis, of Lodi, New Jersey, Karen Grosfelt of Derry and Joseph Grosfelt and his wife, Christine, of Trumansburg, New York; her grandson, Emerson Davis of Nashua, her stepdaughter Michelle Peschke and her step granddaughter Esme Peschke, both of Fairbanks, Alaska; her nephews, Richard, Ryan and Christopher Colburn, Ian, Justin and Aaron Grosfelt and her niece, Charity Antal. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sandy's name to the Peterborough Food Pantry, 25 Elm Street, Peterborough, NH 03458, The Monadnock Humane Society, 101 W Swanzey Road, Swanzey, NH 03446 or to a charity of one's choosing. Our hearts ache for Sandy's family. She was a delight to everyone and a good and true friend to her circle of friends. The Clark Family (formerly of Nashua) has many fond memories of Sandy, when Sandy and Barbara Clark were neighbors. She had a great laugh and a zest for life and was so interesting to talk to on many subjects, especially books. We will not forget you, Sandy. Love from Barbara Clark and Linda Clark Corey.
