Aakash A. Desai, 5, passed away on January 17, 2017 at his home in Lake Mary, Florida. Aakash was a vibrant, loving young man, gregarious and charming, with an endless supply of hugs for everyone. His charm was equaled only by his genuine warmth and he did not pass up an opportunity to pay a sincere compliment to everyone he met. He easily made friends with people of all ages everywhere he went. He took equal pleasure in playing with children his age and taking a stroll down the sidewalk to chat about the days happenings with a neighbor 30 years older than him. He didn’t have one best friend, but everyone was his best friend and most importantly he was the best friend to all!
Aakash loved colorful things, his favorite colors being pink and purple. He also enjoyed soccer, sprinkle cookies with hot chocolate, helping his mom in the kitchen and home depot projects with his dad. He loved to play cars, wrestle and jump on the bed with his little brother Avi. He was very creative and had an unbelievable imagination. Not a day would go by when he didn’t surprise his parents with handmade greeting cards and loving messages written on his art projects from school. One thing that Aakash was well known for was his particular taste in his attire, which had to be “just so”.
A visitation will be held at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel in Sanford on Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 11:00am to 12:00pm. A celebration of life service for Aakash will be held at 12:00pm following the visitation.
Aakash lives on in the hearts of hundreds of friends, young and old alike, who came to know him in his brief lifespan.

My family and I feel saddened with the news. Today we knew what happened and we want to send a hug of solidarity to his family. We met Aakash since he was a baby. We met Aakash, his parents and grandparents while we walked around the neighborhood. He was a very sweet and cheerful child. We saw him since he was being driven in a stroller, until he ran his bicycle. We will always remember his cheerful smile and expressive eyes. May he rest in peace, we will always remember him.

I always called you my little buddy. When I saw you around your home with that huge smile it always made my day. Your smile was contagious. Everyday I would ask you "what did you learn at school that you didn't know when you went that day"? You would always tell me something you learned. I loved to let you drive the golf cart and watch your face light up. I am blessed to have known you and to have called you my little buddy.

Hi Abhijit,
I was in the same batch as you in VRCE. My mom knows your mother through a common friend in Nagpur and that's how I came to know. I was heart broken to hear of this. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I pray that God gives you and your family strength to cope with this terrible loss.

I can still see your smile,
I tucked in my heart to stay,
A memory to cherish until I see it again some day.
