Abel Herrera, Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 2 to Mar. 5, 2023.
Abel Bravo Herrera, Jr. left this earthly realm on Saturday, February 25, 2023 - the day after his 60th wedding anniversary to the love of his life, Belia Herrera - after a short battle with dementia and Parkinson's Disease. Through any and all illness, he was determined, and kept a happy heart and cheerful disposition. He was 82 years young.

Abel Herrera, Jr. went to work at a very early age, in order to help his family. He was always a very hard worker. He retired from Wells Fargo Bank in 2008 after four decades of dedicated service to the company.

He had a passionate love for his voluminous movie collection, his wonderful family, and his Spanish praise and worship music. His passion for music drove him to make mixtapes for friends and family. He really enjoyed his old western movies and tv shows, especially "Gunsmoke" and classic film Noir. Abel was the epitome of the strong, silent type, and he also had a dry sense of humor. When he was wearing his "serious face," his grandchildren and great-grandchildren could always make him laugh.

Abel is survived by his soulmate Belia, and their sons Abel Daniel and Chris, and his wife Rea, as well as their grandchildren Carl, Christopher, Sarah and her husband Austin, and their numerous great-grandchildren Ethan, Dakota, Gianna, Daniel, Matthew and Bella, and his two brothers, Jimmy and Arthur, and his nieces and nephews. Abel is preceded in death by his beautiful daughter Irene, as well as his two brothers, Roy and Tony.

We invite you to join us for Abel's Celebration of Life Funeral Mass and rosary and viewing at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, 800 W. Loma Linda Blvd. Goodyear AZ 85338 on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. 10am Viewing, 10:30am Rosary, 11am Funeral Mass. Following Abel's Funeral Mass, his body will be interred at St. Francis Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th St., Phoenix AZ 85008.

Eternal rest, grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
