Adam Jansen Obituary
Adam died very unexpectedly of natural causes on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at his residence in Davenport.
Adam Joseph Jansen was born March 12, 1980, in Davenport, a son of Richard B. and Mona L. (Granados) Jansen.
He attended Assumption High School and graduated from West High School class of 1999. He then attended Scott Community College.
For the past several years he has been a fork lift operator for Schenker Logistics, West Branch, Iowa.
He was a member of the church, the Scott County YMCA, where he enjoyed working out and "pumping iron," and the John Morrow Academy of Martial Arts, where he attained the rank of Brown Belt.
Adam was a kind, gentle and loving soul. He was devoted to his family and friends, but his greatest love and devotion he shared with his beautiful daughter, Hannah. He loved life and lived it to the fullest.
He enjoyed bowling, baseball and working with his saltwater tropical fish tank; he was a St. Louis Cardinals fan and a Detroit Lions fan, a huge Superman fan and memorabilia collector, and a detail man with his cars which he kept clean!
Memorials can be made to an educational fund to be established for his daughter, Hannah.
Those left to honor his memory include his beloved daughter, Hannah; his parents, Richard and Mona Jansen, brothers and a sister, Richard Jansen Jr., and April (Ryan Sr.) Gottschalk, all of Davenport, and Nicholas (Erica) Jansen, Rock Island; maternal grandparents, Ralph and Eva Granados, Davenport, and Ramona and James Lackey, Monmouth, Ill.; his godfather, Brian Ray, and his godmother, Melissa Baumbach, his goddaughter, Aubrianna Gottschalk; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Harold and Charlotte Jansen, and a beloved cousin, Josh Olson. May they rest in peace.

Adam, what can I say, you were my best friend, you were my non-blood brother, and you were my idol. I respected you for so much and at times wished I could be more like you, as a father, friend, and as a brother . I will always miss you. I see your name on my arm every day i know you've seen it and I hope you love it as much as I do. As the holidays approach us, all I can think about is all the Christmas's we had together as kids. I miss sitting next to you Christmas morning excited to be with our family. We would shake our presents and guess to make Mom and Dad mad...I miss you Adam; more than anyone could ever imagine. I think about you alot and imagine you here with us now, but your not and we are empty inside. We all lost a huge part of us the day you passed away. Adam...your new nephew Maddox was born last night at 8:40PM (09/19/08) at 6lbs 7oz. Hes beautiful Adam. All I could think about when he finally came was all the advice you gave me when we found out Erica was pregnant. You were so happy he was going to be a boy. We miss you dearly Adam. Adam, I miss you alot brother. I still remember all the times we would go out and hang with friends. It has been very hard for me since you have left but I know you are still around watching us. Adam: I miss you more then anything, and you have been more then a best friend to me. Through the changes regarding the brain injury that has overcome me after highschool, you were still always there for me expecially accepting me for who I have become and all the changes. You never cared how I changed, as you always remained my best friend and always there for me taking me out on the weekends, and calling all the time. I miss you more then anything, and thank you for staying there for me through my changes. You accepted me for me, through everything, and never treated me differently. Dearest Dick, Mona, Melissa, Ralph, Ramona and the rest of the family. I was soo saddend to here from Jeremiah about the untimely death of Adam late this evening. I would have been there for all of you, if I had known. Mona, I will try to contact you this week by phone so that we can get together and talk. Richie is correct. When Josh passed away I told Jeremiah and Nathanael that they had gained a "Quardian Angel". Now we have more than one!!! My heart truely goes out to all of you in the deepest of sympathy. I know this is BEYOND hard, painful and seemingly unbareable. I pray for all of you in in the recieving of comfort, hope, courage, faith, and healing with time. I can't imagine how you are feeling right now. If any of you need ANYTHING,or even just to talk, please call me anytime, or send an email via this site. Usually at the end of this, most like to give some sort of advice... but I will not go that way (from personal experience). ONLY YOU know what is best for you, and how to cope (just keep listening to your heart, mind, and soul... and IT WILL eventually all come together within time. All I can say, is I am DEEPLY and TRUELY SORRY.
I can't even express how wonderful of a person Adam is all around. He stuck very close to his family and friends expecially Hannah, who is the world to him and even more. I am greatful that I got the chance to get to know Adam for most of my life. I remember all the times being with him and Hannah, or just over at his families house, and getting the opportunity to bond with his family. All of you are truely wonderful, loving, and caring people.
I remember still to this day, that biggest beautiful smile of excitement that came upon his face (big cheeks turning red) giving me a big hug when we would see, or the excitment in his voice hearing from each other (as I know many of you can relate). I am also grateful for the fact that I (as well as others)got the chance to form more of like a "brother-sister" bond with him, in which gave him the opportunity and comfort to confide in me and to ask for advice anytime day or night... returning the same to me. He is seriously the most loving and caring man I have ever known. Expecially an extremly dedicated SON, BROTHER, BEST FRIEND/FRIEND, and most of all, FATHER! I remember all the times spent with Hannah and just falling in love with her, as everyone has. I pray that Hannah and I can still build on that bond, and I can become again closer to the family as I have "ashamenly" drifted away once I moved, and got married. I guess we sometimes don't realize the importance of making that obligation to keep certain ones close, as Adam was always such a wonderful friend. He was actually one of my closest friends to show for my wedding with Richie, and I will never forget the big hug and kiss, and how he went on about how beautiful I looked. I bring that up, because that is close to one of the last moments I had with him, and it was wonderful. I just wish we would have had more time together.
In addittion Adam... (again) is an extremly wonderful father. He always put her first...she is his life, as well as the life of the whole family.
Adam will always remain with watching over everyone of us in peace as and unbelievably BEAUTIFUL angle now... in that wonderful place of heaven. But I also believe that his soul still remains with each and everyone of you, and an even bigger piece will forever live in and through HIS beautiful little Angel, Hannah Marie Jansen.
I feel so much for all of you, and promise to stay in great touch. Much love and prayer for you all, as he will forever remain your angle of life and comfort, and healing.

Adam, I miss you so much! You were not just my little brother but my best friend. You always took care of everyone that you knew. Not only were you were a superman as a brother, you were the best father I have seen. Having the honor as Hannah as my godchild was a treasure. I didn't know Adam that long, but it the short amount of time that we spent together, I saw the great person that he was and the pure love he has for Hannah. When he spoke of her, his face lit up. I know his spirit will live on in her. He will truely be missed by all.

I got to know Adam when I worked with Worley Distribution and now Schenker Logistics. Adam always had a nice smile and always asked how things were going every time I would see him in the hall or office. He truly was a nice guy! He will be missed.
