PA,
EVEN THOUGH YOU WERE ONLY MY FATHER-IN-LAW FOR 10 YEARS OF MY LIFE & EVEN THOUGH YOUR SON & I DIVORCED YOU ALWAYS TREATED ME LIKE ONE OF YOUR OWN. WHEN TIMES WERE TOUGH FOR ME 3 YEARS AGO WHILE GOING THROUGH MY NURSING, YOU WERE THE ONLY ONE WHO NEVER PUT ME DOWN OR SAID I COULD NOT DO IT. I'LL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOUR SMIRKING FACE, CIGAR HANGING OUT, BIB OVERALLS ON WITH NO SHIRT UNDERNEATH...POCKET FULL OF INK PENS. I REMEMBER LIKE IT WAS YESTERDAY STANDING IN YOUR KITCHEN ON 18TH AVE SO..."WHEN I DIE I DON'T WANT PEOPLE TO MOURN ME...BE HAPPY FOR ME BECAUSE I HAVE DONE MUCH OF WHAT I HAVE WANTED TO. I'M HAPPY." EVEN THOUGH WE KNEW THE END WAS COMING, IT DOESN'T MAKE IT ANY EASIER ADAM. WE WILL SHED TEARS, WE WILL MOURN...BUT KNOW THAT YOU WILL BE FOREVER IN MY HEART...KNOWN TO ME AS MY "PA"...

Adam,

When I think of you, I see the twinkle in your eyes, that sly smile holding your cigar and hear your chuckle like you know something know one else knows... a secret. And I think you do!

I will forever admire your quite ways, stoic strength and words of wisdom learned through years of life experience. These are qualities that I fondly remember in my grandfather.

The last time we talked I was happy to share with you a few light hearted moments. When you spoke the words,"I love you.", I responded in kind. You blew my mind for I wondered, had you always felt this way? Thank You! I didn't know. I always felt an admiration and respect for you and looked up to you as a father figure. It is nice to know that the feelings of love are mutual... because that is ALL that matters!!

You are already missed; but, I know that you are just a call away.

Love,

Patti Ann Thompson (Robbins) Thompson

To my father:
I remember the last trip we took together back from Iowa,
to Arkansas. We talked about everything under the sun; life; family; love; hopes; and dreams. It was the last time you and I bonded as father and son. You helped me make a important life
decision during that trip, that gave me the courage to go on with my dream to be with Patti once more....
I will miss you with all my heart; and shall always try to continue to make you proud.....
Your son,
Greg
