Adrian Rogers Obituary
His death was announced by Baptist Press News and by Rogers' Love Worth Finding ministry. Officials of the Nashville-based Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee didn't immediately return calls seeking comment.
Rogers was hospitalized earlier this month with pneumonia and cancer, his ministry's Web site said.
Rogers was elected president in 1979 as part of the conservative takeover of the convention.
His election turned out to a be a watershed moment for the denomination, and the 16-million-member group shifted dramatically to the right politically and theologically.
In the years that followed, conservative leaders pushed hard against abortion rights, homosexuality and women pastors.
Rogers also was elected president of the SBC in 1986 and 1987.
He was pastor of the 28,000-member Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis for 32 years, retiring this past March.
"There's no one in this country I respect more than Adrian Rogers," Focus on the Family's Dr. James Dobson said on Rogers' last day as pastor. "You draw me to Christ. When I'm with you, I feel closer to the Lord."
Among those who attended Rogers' final sermon were Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., and Rep. Harold Ford Jr., D-Tenn.
During his career, Rogers conducted religious crusades in Taiwan, South Korea, Israel, Russia, Romania, and in Central and South America.
In 2003 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame by the National Religious Broadcasters.

Jesus warned people to repent of there sins to him and to go through him to go to the Father, and so did you give warnings to the people by your preaching. People need also the Holy Spirit to I dwell them as they serve God/ABBA through Jesus Christ. You will be missed and are missed. I love your southern style Holy Bible preaching and your voice adds to it. I still listen to it when it comes on the radio. Adrian Rogers, like many here, I did not discover this great man until after his death. He speaks to every heart, even to the simpleton, like me, and my deepest regret is that I did not hear him 36 years ago, could have saved myself so much heartache. He never preaches an "off sermon". I could listen to him 24/7, and never grow weary. He is genuine, and I only wish we could find some one of his virtue.

Dr. Rogers continues to touch my life with the Biblical truths from the Bible. When I hear his robust voice deliver a meaningful and always needed message on the BBN radio station, I am reminded of the excellent Christian legacy that Dr. Rogers has left for us. It causes me to pause and consider what I want my legacy to be. Such a humble man of God who continues to remind me of what our daily walk with God must be. I praise God for creating Dr. Rogers whose recorded teachings from years ago are still influencing my life in a mighty and positive way. Dr. Rogers, I turned on the radio one night and heard a sermon you preached on Love Worth Finding several years ago. I was going thru a very difficult time in my life. The words you spoke in your message that night were God sent. I went home and pulled the message up on the Internet and listened to it over and over again. It was then I realized, God still loves me. That night I began to find my way back to Jesus. So many times I've needed direction in my life, and have pulled up the message being delivered that day and it would be exactly what I was dealing with at that time. It's been years since I heard your voice on the radio that first night, but I know God is still using your ministry to lead souls to Christ. I still listen to you message almost every night before I go to sleep. Although you departed this life so many years ago, your messages are still current today. I know you're with Jesus now, but I' m so thankful for the dedicated life you lived as an example before us each day.

I just discovered you Andrian Rogers on the radio I had never heard of you... but when I heard you teach the word for the first time I thought who is this man this is THE BEST teaching I have heard in a long time if ever. I can't wait to get in my car every morning on my way to work to listen to you. I decided to go search this ministry on the website and that is when I discovered your passing in 2005. My heart was sadden. I am so thankful we can still hear the word of God by you. You teaching God's word is still powerful today as it was then because the word of God never changes. I have been listening to Pastor Rogers for the last few months. I had no idea until today that he was no longer here, but with the Lord for the past 10 years. My heart broke as I learned of his passing. I feel honored and so greatly blessed to hear his love for Christ daily still to this very day! I am so touched by his teachings daily! I hope Mrs. Rogers and her family read these entries. They are so remembered and prayed for by many. Pastor Rogers' message of the gospel continues! What I notice most is that pastor's messages may be several years old or more recent but they all sound so "now". They seem to address our issues of the day in a very specific and real way. That my friends is the Holy Spirit continuing to use a man for His glory. How happy Pastor Rogers must be to know that his love for others continues on through his voice. How comforting to know that it will do so as long as God sees fit. May Pastor Roger's messages continue to reach the world until we are all called home.

I was a member of Pastor Roger's church as a young girl. Many years later and many trials since, I continue to seek God's truth and strength through Pastor Rogers. I know in fact, I can completely trust his teaching as he was an annointed man. Pastor also taught others so as to encourage one to seek out the scriptures for oneself. The Bible is our perfect source. Pastor continues to lift it up, teaching it's truth and imparting it's wisdom. I look forward to thanking him personally one day.

My grandmother never left for church on Sunday until she spent her 30 minutes with this wonderful Preacher. My mother & I also followed him. What a loss for us but they're dancing in heaven!

God get's the Glory for Rev. Adrian Rogers. What a Wonderful Master Piece God made when he gave the world this Wonderful man of God. Our Family could watch him preach about God all day, we love him and miss him. Thank-you God for Adrian Rogers. We will still watch the Blessings from God, that Adrian Rogers left behind for the world to know God. Heaven Got A Great Pastor.

I absolutely love Brother Rogers' sermons. I love the simplicity, yet unbelievably deep message this man of God brings. I too wish that I could have met him in person. I pray God's blessings upon his family.

I wish I had seen and heard him preach when he was still with us. I thank God I can see him on the video broadcast. I have never been moved any closer to our Lord than when I watch and listen to him.
