Alan Broadwell Obituary
CHAPIN – A memorial service for Alan McPherson Broadwell, 56, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Chapin United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in C/O The Allene Broadwell Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 265, Chapin, SC 29036.
Mr. Broadwell was born November 26, 1960 in Aiken, SC and passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017. He was a son of the late Robert McMillan and Allene Elizabeth Bland Broadwell. Mr. Broadwell was employed as Director of Operations for an online banking software company. Alan enjoyed volunteering for the Salkehatchie Summer Service. He loved scuba diving and playing his guitar. He was a wonderful husband and great, loving Dad to his four beautiful children.
Mr. Broadwell is survived by his wife, Melanie Broadwell of Chapin; children, Nancy Blythe, Lane Wagoner, Roy Robert, and Hoyt Alan; brother, Robert Broadwell; sister, Jane Broadwell; niece, Allene Elizabeth Russell; uncle, Robert P. Bland, Jr, MD; cousins, Robert Purdy Bland III, Myles Curtis Perrin Bland, and Kingsland Wadick Bland.

All of us at work were shocked and saddened by Alan's passing. He was a great manager to work for and a genuinely wonderful man. I didn't get much chance to really know him, he only hired me last June, but I enjoyed him from the moment I came on board here.
Alan and I had some really in-depth religious discussions, and I know he was a man who loved Jesus Christ as his savior.
He will be truly missed. My condolences to the entire family. We will be praying for you in this time of grief and loss.

A light has truly gone out in God's kingdom. Alan was loved by so many and touched many lives with his service to Salkehatchie and his gift of music. Roger and I have so many good memories of our days with him at Trinity in the Sonrise Band. He truly exemplified servant leadership in his personal life. I was shocked and saddened by Alan's death. I can't imagine the heartache you and your family must feel. My heart goes out to you. Words seem inadequate to express the sadness I feel.
