Grandpa, It's been several days since you left us. I miss you tremendously. Words can't describe how difficult it is without you here with us. I will forever keep you and our memories in my heart. From houseboat vacations to sleeovers in Broadviews to my first pair of diamond earrings. I will never forget. You were and are the Best of the Best. I love you Big Al. Until we meet again Grandpa.

I would like to thank everyone who attended Albert Chernesky' s wake/funeral services for this week and for those who have sent their condolences. It is unfortunate for those who were unable to attend but I am certain that my grandfather received your prayer and will always be with you. Having known my grandfather for 30+ years, I am not writing as a Eulogy but rather to share my thoughts on my grandfather. My Grandfather enjoyed good people, food/drinks and celebrations. One of the many quotes he used often was Too good to share. He loved his King Oscar sardines with Ritz crackers, salami, Chicago Style deep dish pizza, Lawrence Fisheries, Italian beef/sausage and one would find him drinking a nice ice-cold beer while watching his favorite Chicago sports teams in bed. Let's go ahead and rewind and look at his life from my perspective.Shortly after graduating HS, he served his country, drafted in 1946 at the age of 17. He was stationed at Nagasaki Hiroshima, Japan and was on the USS Fall River CA 121, a heavy Cruiser Ship and experienced the Atomic Bomb Test at Bikini Island, 15 miles way from the hydrogen bomb-He was a Navy WWII Veteran. Married my beautiful grandmother, Donna Leary of 65 years and had 5 amazing children: Michael, Danny, Susan, Patrick and Debbie. He worked for the American Can Company (ACC) -I never asked about the location but I believe it was East of Broadview IL, shared many stories with me and we laughed together. He was fortunate to have worked for the ACC and retired I think around 55. In Retirement, he took his grandkids to Kiddieland, Kiddie Kingdom, Church, race track, bowling and we experienced countless stops for ice-cream while driving in his yellow station wagon. As his grand-kids aged, he experienced football/baseball games, weddings and family parties. My grandpa lived a great life and taught me to never give up. May you rest in peace. -Phil Chernesky, Grandson of Albert Chernesky.
I will miss your hugs, giggle, the way you whistled songs and always asked me "Who loves ya baby?" The way you closed your eyes when you ate because the food tasted better that way. Eating butter pecan ice cream, grape nuts and salami sandwhiches. Our Vis

I will miss your hugs, giggle, the way you whistled songs and always asked me "Who loves ya baby?" The way you closed your eyes when you ate because the food tasted better that way. Eating butter pecan ice cream, grape nuts and salami sandwhiches. Our Visits to see great aunt Ida and great grandma, going to church, the track, jogging together around the block. Searching for coins to add to your coin collection You taught me how to earn a buck by mowing the lawn and trimming the hedges. I'm blessed and grateful that you are my grandpa.
I love you always. I will forever miss you
Your granddaughter Lisa

I will always remember your great sense of humor, how great of a swimmer you were and above all how kind you were to me as a child. I will miss you and cherish the memories forever. May your family take solace in the fact that you and mom will be waiting for us. Love Perry

Might God grant him eternal happiness and joy in Heaven. "Big Al" will be missed by all who knew and loved
him. We will miss his quick smile and sense of humor. Rest in the arms of Jesus, our Savior, and love always.

I will always remember your smile and happy eyes. Al was my older cousin and remember the good times especially when we were all little and family get togethers. He always went to the track with my dad. Just a wonderful guy. Sorry I was out of town and had to miss being with everyone

I'll always remember the good times we had Grandpa. I love u very much and I miss u.you will always be in my heart and soul and never be forgotten. I hope that one day when my time comes you'll be at the gates waiting for me and we could play cards and talk about all the times we went to church together and getting me a slurpee afterwards.
