ALEXANDER CAROTHERS Obituary

CAROTHERS, Alexander H., Sr., 79, a resident of Montgomery, Al., died Monday, December 5, 2005. Funeral services will be Wednes-day, December 7, 2005 at 2:30 PM at Leak-Memory Chapel with Dr. John Ed Mathison. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Alex graduated from Starke University School. Mr. Carothers was a mem-ber of Frazer United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and served in WWII. He retired in 1991 after 42 years as a Cotton Merchant. He was the Past President of Atlantic Cotton Association and served on the Board of Directors for the follow-ing Texas Cotton Association, Boys and Girls Club and Blue/Gray Asso-ciation. He was a member of the Montgomery Lions Club for 43 years and a Melvin Jones Fellow, the highest international honor a Lion is awarded. Mr. Carothers is preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Carothers, his son Alexander H. (Buddy) Carothers, Jr., three sisters and four brothers. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Helen J. Carothers, daughter Kimberly C. Stallings, son Littleton B. Carothers, II (Ann), four grandchil-dren Alexander H. Carothers, III (S-usan), Taylor Stallings, Brooks Ca-rothers and Owen Carothers, two brothers E.B. Carothers (Mary Lee) and W.M. Carothers, one sister Co-ralie C. Coleman and a host of lov-ing nieces and nephews. Active Pallbearers will be Alexander Carot-hers, Brooks Carothers, Owen Ca-rothers, Russell Carothers, Joe Ca-rothers, Tommy Coleman, Fred Phelps, James B. Mayton, Rick Stall-ings and Ronnie Waters. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernie Gilmore, Gerald Thompson, Frank Chalker, Wayne Hardin, Joe Simon, Jimmy Loeb and the employees of Loeb and Company Inc., nurses and CNA¦s of Bill Nichols VA Home and the Montgomery Lions Club. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer organization of Montgomery, Southern Care Hos-pice of Alex City, Al., the Montgom-ery Lions Club, Bill Nichols VA Home 4th Floor, or one¦s favorite charity. Visitation will be at Leak-memory Chapel on Tuesday, December 6, 2005 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Leak-Memory Chapel Directing
