Age 94; on Thursday, April 29, 2010 in West Penn Hospital. Born June 28, 1915 in Pittsburgh. Beloved friend of Rita Gould. Loving father of Alex, Jim, Tim, Debora, Earl and Tom. Grandfather of Alex, Britt, James, Paige, Ashley and Justin. Great-grandfather of Cassandra, Alexander and Emily. Brother of Nora Speyer and Darthea Speyer. Mr. Speyer was a longtime financier, businessman and a member of the New York Stock Exchange. Services at Rodef Shalom Temple, 4905 Fifth Avenue (at Morewood) on Sunday at 3 PM. Visitation one hour prior to services (2 to 3 PM) at Temple. Entombment West View Cemetery of Rodef Shalom Congregation. Contributions may be made to Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, 2000 Technology Drive, Suite 300, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 or Carnegie Mellon University, 5000 Forbes Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15213. Chris, Carolyn and Emily Volk from Boise would like to honor the passing of a great man. You are all blessed to have been part of his tribe. Although I have known you more than him, it's clear that his guidance and care have been key to your individual successes. We have fond memories from Glacier Park. Fran and I extend our sincere condolences to the entire Speyer family and especially to my very good childhood friend, Jimmy. "Bub" was like a second father to all of the friends of the Speyer children and his memory will last.
