Alexander Stuart Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 17 to Jan. 18, 2023.
Alexander Jamison Stuart, June 19, 1990 - January 10, 2023 (32) became a citizen of the world at six years of age when he attended the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. He was passionate about people and eager for discovery. He cared for others less fortunate and was eager to serve. He embraced life to the fullest. He graduated from Cary Academy in 2008 and from Duke University in 2012 and was a marketing consultant who traveled the world. He had worked in South America and passed away from an illness while traveling with friends in Mexico. Alexander Stuart is survived by his parents Jim and Cathy Stuart, his beautiful sister Channing as well a network of family and friends across the globe who will miss him dearly.

He was happiest visiting new places, meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. Upon graduation from Duke, he worked in corporate communications at the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore. Thereafter, he returned to the United States where he worked for Major League Soccer and later became a marketing consultant and agent for sports professionals and teams. He was involved in domestic and international companies in furtherance of sport including various German and English Premier League Football Clubs. He worked in international real estate development and sports venue management. Most recently he was involved in the block chain industry.

Alexander was fascinated by world affairs and saw sport as a mechanism to bring the world closer together. He planned to pursue a graduate degree in International Studies. He had a curious mind and had a wealth of knowledge and was a willing teacher to others. He loved sport, played sports, and knew sports. His knowledge of the world and of sports was unparalleled. His depth of knowledge, work ethic, insight and initiative were palpable. He crisscrossed continents in his professional career, from Southeast Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States.

His infectious personality, sarcasm and dry wit were engaging and brought joy to all who knew him. He would never fail to make one laugh until they cried with his keen sense of humor. His passion for music was never ending as he loved to dance and even became a DJ in Washington and Bogota just for fun.

After COVID travel restrictions were relaxed he continued his work and discovery quest from across the continental United States and from Riyadh to Bogota.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Helping Hand Mission, 623 Rock Quarry Road, Raleigh, NC 27610 (919) 829-8048 c/o Sylvia Wiggins where he began volunteering at age six.

He accomplished more in 32 years, than most people dream of doing in a lifetime. Although he was alive for a such a short time, he will remain in the hearts of all who knew him forever. Despite the unending grief there is gratitude for his remarkable life. A celebration of his life will be held on January 28, 2023. For further details, please contact [email protected]

Alex was a wonderful person. I had the pleasure to work with him after he moved out to Seattle to pursue his dreams of working in sports. I always appreciated his positive attitute and love of life. Here's a picture of us with soccer legend Raul Gonzalez. My condolences to the family and may Alex rest in peace.

Alex was a close and dear friend of mine. I´ll remember our late night drives in college to cookout that graduated to Miss Lilys in NYC. Stu was a movie connoisseur, an avid soccer fan and a walking encyclopedia on college sports. He always knew the best movies to watch, introduced me to The Weeknd´s music years before he became a cultural icon and could debate me for hours on marvel super hero rankings. I´m so sorry and my deepest condolences to Mr and Mrs Stuart.

I was his manager back at AmCham. Alex was a wonderful writer. I´m so devastated to hear the news. I will always remember him for being so bright, so full of Life, and always with a passion for travel. He would always tell me about his family. He was so proud of all of you. He spoke about his dad's business, and also his sister Channing, who he loved so much. Alex was like a little brother to me and I took Alex out for drinks around town after work, where he enjoyed Singapore nightlife. He was wonderful, talented and wise beyond his years. My mind can´t quite process how someone so young can be taken from you so soon. I´m saddened by the news. I hope you will find comfort in knowing he made a difference to people halfway around the world.
If you ever want to learn more about his time in Singapore, please feel free to contact me at [email protected]. My thoughts are with you.

I had the pleasure of coaching Alexander in travel ball. Alexander was a smaller version of Tyler Hansbrough for those that know basketball. He never backed down from anyone on the court and played hard at all times. I like to think his seriousness on the court poured over into all that he did later. I will never forget a moment in a game in which he was hit in the mouth and with blood coming through his braces he still wanted to get back out there and play. Alexander was just a kid you loved to have on your team.

I smiled while reading his obituary because one other moment that sticks out is when we were in a hotel between games and we decided to pick up the sticks (video game controller) and play FIFA soccer. I recall beating him and he wanted his get back but I never let him get a chance. He did not like that and wanted me another go, but he was the same on the basketball court.

My heart is still sadden to know Alexander is gone. He was one of those people that would give you the shirt off his back and if he did not have one, he would find one to give you. He was just a great person and even as I type this it hurts to know we only got 32 years of him.

Prayers to his family and friends.

This is a magnificent remembrance. I never met him but now feel I knew him well, which makes me all the sadder that he left us so young.

Alex was a good friend of mine when I lived in Singapore and we enjoyed many evenings together. We also travelled to Jakarta together - a super fun trip that I always reminisce. Although I had not seen Alex for many years, we stayed in touch. I am also sure if were ever in each others city, there was no way we were not hanging out.

He was one of the nicest, most easy going guys I had met with not a mean bone in his body. He will be dearly missed! I offer my deepest condolences to the family and wish them strength and fortitude to overcome this devastating loss.

Alex was my colleague and friend at AmCham. I will always remember his kind heart and fun personality. He had a love for American politics and I enjoyed all of our heated but friendly discussions during the 2012 election! I remember we had so much fun working AmCham events together, to clubbing late nights just to be back at another work event early morning. I´m devastated to hear this news. I´ll always remember you Alex and our fun times together in Singapore. Praying for your family during this difficult time
