On October 28 2017, Alice Hulzenga went to meet her Lord and Saviour at the age of 87 years. Well loved, she will be deeply missed by her family, friends and community. Left to cherish her memory are her loving children Sidney (Michelle), Elly (Roger) Kleyne, Jacqueline (Marty) Prins; grandchildren Marina, Jared (Monika), Joanna, Mark (Ashlee), Derek (Lauren), Ian, Meghan, Erica and Jaime. Alice also leaves her sisters Gerrie Vandenberg, Dini (Wilbur) Jacobi, Elizabeth DeVries; sisters-in-law Nell Van Vliet, Joke (Folkert) Cuperus; and former daughter-in-law Claire Hulzenga.
Alice was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years Gurbe Hulzenga and 5 siblings.
Alice had a zest for life and loved nothing more than socializing with family and friends. She had a deep rooted faith in the Lord which guided her throughout her life.
The family invites you to a Memorial Service, to be held at Inglewood Christian Reformed Church at 12330-113 Avenue, on Saturday November 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.
If desired, donations may be made in Alice's memory to World Renew c/o Inglewood Christian Reformed Church.

Good Evening Hulzenga Family (Sid, Elly, and Jacqueline)...

So sorry to hear about "Tante Ali's" sudden passing. I have very pleasant memories of our visits to Edmonton and the times that I was able to stay with your family in the west-end. I remember, too, the visits we enjoyed when you all came to visit us in Smithers, B.C. Your mom was kind and also had a zest for life...Simply put, it was fun when she was around.

As you live with this new reality and grieve during times when her absence is especially felt, may the words written in her obituary ("She had a deep rooted faith in the Lord which guided her throughout her life") sustain and strengthen you.

Dear Hulzenga Family, we were sadden to hear of your mother, our friend Alice's passing. Our friendship goes back 55 years and had many wonderful times with Alice and of course Gurben. Whether we were golfing. playing cards , hiking or fellowshipping over coffee and something sweet. Our conversations were rich in sharing our faith and what God did and continued to do in our lives. Plus our families which came first. Our greatest desires were to see all our family serving Christ, keeping Him number one in our life.
