My condolences to Al's family. I also knew Al through SCHS, he was a great person & teacher. Although, at SCHS, he never seemed like a teacher, more like a friend. He always had a smile on his face, and always put a smile on yours. He will be missed.

Al Boyd was a pleasure to see every day at SCHS. He was a genuine person, someone who listened and who made life lots of fun. When talking with Al, you forgot he was a teacher and he always made you feel important. I can still see his smiling face as he stood in the doorway greeting students as class changed or as they would stop by for a quick visit. He was a friend, a good friend. I am saddened to hear of his passing; my condolences to his family.

My deepest sympathies to the Boyd Family
I knew Al at South Carleton High School
He was always a friendly face to see being new to the school and he never seemed to forget anyone as I found out this past spring he was driving the bus for my son's Field trip out of South Carleton and he came up behind and scared the crap out of me I was surprised he remembered me it was 15 yrs ago when i last saw him and he remembered the little thing, I would have expressed my condolences earlier but I just found out this week, My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of need.

Please accept my deepest sympathies. I had the privillage of working with Al at OC Transpo. He always had a smile on his face which was usually followed up by some joke that cracked us all up.
I only found out about his death on Saturday Aug 18 otherwise I would have passed my sympathies in person.
Al will be greatly missed!

Susie, Greg & Pat, I was on vacation and have just returned to the news that Allan has passed. He was the most kind and generous person that I have known and made SCHS a fun place to work. I know that heaven will welcome his teasing and gentle soul.

Susie, Kent & Family -
Our sincere sympathies to you and your family. Susie, our talks this year when we were doing the annual Cancer Society Campaign, really struck a chord with me, and our latest chat in late May when we stood in your yard for however long and talked will always stay with me. Allan was one of those guys who "Made your day" when you saw him. Jim & I both remember him from SCHS, and our oldest son, Mark, does as well. Always a smile and his spontaneous wit made him a charmer. He has undoubtedly left his mark and will not soon be forgotten. Take care of each other.

"Our lives are not determined by what happens to us, but by how we react to what happens; not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life..." Author Unknown
Allow me to go on a little about my experience with Al. I stumbled upon him at the Richmond Fair and during my years at SCHS from time to time. I'd run into him during his OC days as well. Our visits were short but we laughed, giggled, and became freinds!
He always had a funny story that put a smile on my face. This picture is the lasting impression I'll have for a lifetime, thanks for letting me be part of it...

I am so sorry to have missed the memorial. I would have been there if I had known. Al-you were a great teacher and friend. Many hours working together with Dance, Musical Performance Group and AV. Many good times just hanging out.
It was great to run into you driving the bus too -me driving my seniors and you driving with OC.
You were taken from us too soon.

Dear Boyd Family;
I send my sincere condolences. I knew Al from the time I was young and his sense of humour and happiness was always an inspiration to me. Many times I would be at work having a bad day and in would pop in Al and make everyone smile and laugh. I remember when I would take the bus and he drove my route. 5 mins before my stop I'd get a phone call telling me to get outside. What other driver offered that service?! I can't express how sad this news made me or how much he will be missed by many, many people.

My condolences to Al's family. I have many great and fond memories of Al from SCHS. In my graduating year(13)he would always let me stay in the AV room to watch my favorite Soap!(Days of our Lives). He was adored by all the students at SCHS.I had not seen Al for over 20 years until just last summer when I ran into him on Highway 7 outside of Perth. It was great to see him after all those years. God bless Al.

Susie, Kent & Family:
It is with deep regret and much sadness that we learned of Alan's passing. We were both hoping to pass these setiments onto you in person but circumstances have dictated that this will not happen. After seeing you both at Mom & Dad's in May and learning of Alan's prognosis I could not believe his upbeat and comical demeanour when I met him at an auction sale a few weeks later in Richmond. What else should I have expected from this man that I attended SCHS with? We had a good visit and for that I am thankful for. Alan was a couple of years older than me and graduated prior to me and became the AV guy. A good guy to still know when you were a student of SCHS and he knew all the ropes! Great sense of humour, loved his family and loved life.
Thank you God for letting me know him!

My deepest sympathies to the entire family. Al was a really good man who always had a smile on his face. He was so caring and always went out of his way to help others. I will always be thankful to him for driving me to school for 3 years when I moved to Kinburn and wanted to stay at South Carleton. You will be greatly missed, but always remembered.

I wish to take this time, to say that I am deeply saddened to hear of Al's passing. Al made my high school years enjoyable. I was actually happy to go, because Al always made the days pass with fun & humour. He took the time to get to know his students and taught us all about the Audio Visual field. We were better and wiser for knowing him and will forever remember him with pride and fondness.

Al, you set a benchmark for compassion toward your friends and neighbours. I am lucky to have be both! Thank you for the lessons on how to live life lightly, with passion, humour, and unselfish vehemence in the face of your personal circumstances. You've shown all of us what to strive for and I shall surely try to acheive what you did so naturally. You were a gift in my life and in many other's.

Al, you were the most thoughtful and giving person I have ever known. I will always remember the Quebec City ski trip.. or most of it anyway. Having lunch in the AV room was always a highlight of the day. I can't believe we actually use to watch "Days of Our Lives." Keep everyone laughing in heaven as you did with all of us on earth. Thanks for being AL!

Wow I don't now what to say. I will charish the time Al and I spent confusing those that didn't really know us well on who the "Real Al" was before Al turned grey and I gained a few pounds, ski trips to Quebec City and Smugglers Notch Vermont. Lessons learned and knowledge gained in the AV room during my High School years. And of course the multiple Cold Wobbly Pops we shared. We'll miss you "Bro".

It is with great sadness that we have lost Al. He was a very pleasant man who always had time to stop, listen and talk with you. To his family members I express my condolences to you. I know that the burden you feel is very difficult.
I first met Al during my school years. He was the leader on some school projects that we worked together on. My father’s office and Al’s office were next door to each other for many years.
May the love from God help ease your pain.
