My deepest condolences on your loss of this beautiful young woman. I do not know you, but have heard so much about Alyssa from my co-worker, Deb S. We were talking at work one day about what kind of people we were at age 16; we only thought of ourselves. Alyssa sounds like she was so full of energy and caring for others. How proud you must be of her!
One of my sons, a combat vet who has served in the Middle East 3 times, was financially unable to buy gifts for us this Christmas. This bothered him so much - only a parent would understand he that HE is our gift.

As I was looking on KTIS this morning, I came across this poem that someone wrote when they lost their husband. We lost my father-in-law in October and when I saw this I new this was a message from God saying that it is going to be ok and that they are in a much better place. I wanted to share this with your family, as I was thinking about you as I have done several time since your lost. God bless you all this Christmas.

I have two children. This struck me particularly hard, as I read how your daughter was described, I feel as if it describes my daughter to a T. I also have a son who is a junior this year. I truly cannot begin to imagine your grief, as I love and adore my children and I know you must be devastated by all of this. You need to know though, that I can feel your strength and am amazed by your compassion and the entire city of Lakeville. I met Alyssa when she spent a week by my house in New Orleans when she came in with my niece, Kaylin. She was truly one of the most genuine, beautiful,fun loving,never stopped smiling kids that I have ever met. You could tell she liked to make the most out of life and leave an impression on everyone she came in contact with! Her Facebook says it all! Her friends and family are very lucky! It is filled with pictures of her family and friends that meant everything to her. You are truly blessed to have her as a daughter and sister.

You do not know me and neither I nor my husband ever had the pleasure of meeting Alyssa. Our daughter Molly was in the Youth Teaching Youth program with Alyssa and although she is now in college, it was through her that I learned of this tragedy. It was moments later that I learned that Alyssa had been my nephew Carl's homecoming date. Since that day I have come to know more about the person Alyssa was and it is quite clear to me that Carl surely must have felt honored to have her at his side the evening of the dance. Alyssa was a lovely young woman in so many ways. We have kept your entire family in our prayers, thoughts and conversations and will continue to do so. I am so sorry for your loss and hope that you are granted the strength needed to get through the coming weeks and months.

My mother (Mary Brausen Weinhagen) was a close friend of Grandma Connie's & Grandpa Bob's. Since my mother died, they have supported me and my family by sharing in my daughter's and my special life events. They are truly special people and my heart aches for them and all of you!

Pat and I were in the middle of our move to the North Shore when we learned of Alyssa's death. We were snowed in in Duluth for three nights when Pat looked at the paper and said, "that accident victim was Jennifer Ettl's daughter!" I can not imagine the pain and emptiness you are feeling with the loss of Alyssa. When I heard the about the tragic accident and loss of a 16 year old, Alyssa Ettl, on the news, I was hoping this was a different Alyssa Ettl.
Zepher is 16 and I can't imagine life without him.
I do know the heartache of losing a brother at 17.
