Angelo Lucrezia Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 7, 2014.
After a long battle with MDS and AML Leukemia, Angelomaria Lucrezia was welcomed into the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 6, 2014 at the young age of 39. He leaves behind his devoted wife, best friend and soul mate, Karen Lucrezia, their daughter, Juliana, and their sons, Angelo and Andrew.

Angelo was born on November 18, 1974 in New Rochelle, New York, to father Salvatore Lucrezia and mother Maria Rosa Acocella. He grew up in a loving family with his brother, Philip Lucrezia. Growing up, Angelo worked in his parent's family business, even up until his graduation from Pace University School of Law in 1999.

Angelo married Karen, his High School Sweetheart, on August 7, 1999, shortly after taking the Bar Exam. He and Karen lived in Thiells, and later on Stony Point, where the couple raised their three children. Angelo was a driven professional with a successful law practice that he started from the ground up. Angelo passionately loved helping his clients and his friends and is remembered by all as a man who put everyone else's welfare before his own. When diagnosed with MDS in 2009 and AML Leukemia in 2014, he remained dedicated to his wife and children in his determination to fight the illness. Remarkably, he beat both cancers with successful transplants, but complications ultimately took his life here on earth. He remained a brave and courageous man even in his final days at Hackensack University Medical Center where he received two stem cell transplants.

Angelo is survived by his wife and children, his brother and sister-in-law, and his parents, all of whom are heart broken. Visitation services will be held from 2pm – 4pm and 7pm – 9pm on Wednesday, October 8, and Thursday, October 9, at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in New City, New York. There will be a funeral service, also at Higgins Funeral Home, on Friday, October 10, at 10am, and Angelo's body will be laid to rest immediately thereafter in the mausoleum at Saint Anthony's Parish in Nanuet, New York. Lastly, there will be a service dedicated to celebrating the wonderful life of Angelo at Saint Gregory Barbarigo's Parish in Garnerville, New York, on Saturday, October 11 at 10am.

The family would especially like to thank all the people that have been supportive over the course of his long battle, and the doctors and nurses that cared for and loved Angelo like family. Angelo will be missed tremendously, and the only comfort we have is in The Lord, Jesus Christ, for we believe that to be absent from the body is to be present with The Lord.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The National Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the NY Blood Center or Be The Match, all of which are organizations that played a major part in Angelo's transplants, and which have a special place in our hearts. God Bless.

Dear Lucrezia Family,
A life well lived is worth having been lived even though it was not as long as one would have wished for. The pictures say it all: He loved, is loved and had a loving family. You are all in my prayers.

Angelo was a caring, kind man, who truly put so many people in front of himself. He has touched so many people through his practice, many of us, proud to call ourselves his friends. He was taken from us too early in his young life. My prayers go out to his whole family, as this truly is a very big loss. Peace be with with you Lucrezia Family, and Angelo, may you rest in peace, and smile down on all of us in heaven.
