Ann Blakefield Catlin

Mrs. Ann Blakefield Catlin, Esq. February 26, 1933 - September 6, 2017 La Mesa Mrs. Catlin died peacefully at 84 years of age after a long illness but having lived a wonderful life. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Commander William George Catlin, US Naval Reserves, civil engineer and contractor. Ann leaves behind three children and their spouses: Dr. Elizabeth A. Catlin, Mrs. Susan Catlin Young and Mr. Keith R. Young, and Mr. Mark B. Catlin and Mrs. Rona M. Catlin. She leaves five (adored) grandchildren: Frances, Todd, Charlie, Blake and Laura. Our mother was a loving and charming woman, loved deeply by her family and many dear friends. Ann was so accomplished -- she really did it all! Raised a family, spoke several languages, traveled, became an estate attorney, played piano, cello and sang in our church choir (and much more). She worked in a volunteer capacity for Amigos de las Americas, served as president of San Diego's Alzheimer's Association, to name but a few. And let us not forget, Ann loved to entertain and enjoyed doing so immensely with her typical flair! While she will be terribly missed, we believe she is reunited with Bill in heaven. Her life was a blessing to all that had the chance to know her, and, like our father, Mom, "left the campground better than she found it."
