LAWRENCE — Anna Julia (Lukas) Masoud died peacefully Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Lawrence General Hospital surrounded by her adoring family. .
Born on Nov. 13, 1915 in Wheelright, she was the daughter of the late Victor Lukaslavitch and Mary Winksnaitis. A 1932 graduate of Lawrence High School she married her beloved husband, James Joseph Masoud on Nov. 19, 1938 at St. Anthony's Church in Lawrence. James has one surviving sister, Josie Hatem of Methuen and Anna was predeceased by three siblings, Mamie, Margaret and Bronoslaw Lukas.
.As a young woman she worked in the Wood Mill and in her 40's began a 25 year career at Western Electric in North Andover.. A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was a fiercely independent woman of strong faith and conviction. She drove a car up until the age of 91 and continued to maintain a full and busy life with family and friends until her recent decline. She was a faithful parishioner at St. Anthony's Church and took great pride in leading her life with devotion and integrity. A kind, compassionate and selfless woman, she had a special gift of making whoever came in contact with her feel special. She cherished her time spent with family and fully adored her three daughters, nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
.This vibrant woman leaves behind her three beautiful daughters, Andrea, wife of the late John Porter of Methuen and her companion Vincent M. Amicangello, Janice and her husband Methuen City Councilor, Stephen N. Zanni of Methuen, and Barbara and her husband Edward Mahoney of Lexington; nine grandchildren who were her pride and joy: Wendy Porter-Coste and her husband John of Methuen, Tracy Porter of Methuen and her boyfriend Ron Pitocchelli, Jeffrey Zanni and his wife Sarah of Merrimack, Atty. Jana Zanni and her husband Atty. Vincenzo Pesce of Methuen, Michael Mahoney and his girlfriend Ann Plante of Brewerton, N.Y, Karen Ringheiser and her husband Dave of Carlisle, Kathy Ciancarelli and her husband John of Hudson, Timothy Mahoney and his wife Julie Plaut, Ph.D. of Newton, MA and Chrissy Stephan and her husband Michael of Fort Worth, TX; and 14 great-grandchildren whom she adored: Kalia, Tyana, Enzo, Gianna, Eva, Anna, Alden, Christopher, James, Jacob, Sarah, Nicholas, Natalie and Katelyn. .
Her family was everything to her and she selflessly sacrificed for each loved one; in return she received boundless love and created a lifetime of joyful memories. She now rests in heaven above as the angel she has been throughout a lifetime.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be offered Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery, Methuen. Friends may call Sunday 4 to 8 p.m. at Farrah Funeral Home, 133 Lawrence St., Lawrence. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 145 Lawrence St., Lawrence, MA 01841.
