Anna M. (Bard) Mattern, 86, died July 25, 2014 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was the wife of Donald E. Mattern to whom she married on November 24, 1951. Born in Mt. Union, PA, Ann was the daughter of the late Marshall M. and Naomi M. (Hileman) Bard.

She was predeceased by her two brothers, Robert and Max Bard.

Ann graduated from Mt. Union High School, Huntingdon County, PA in 1945 and The Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelphia, PA in 1949. Following graduation, Ann was a rural school nurse for the Huntingdon County School District caring for students at 22 one-room schools.

Mr. Mattern, Jimmy and family,
So sorry to hear of Mrs. Mattern's passing. I still remember her beautiful smile and kind eyes, which I see she has not lost all these years later. I remember the sound of her laughter, especially on bridge nights. I know this is a great loss to you and your family. My heart goes out to you. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Sandra Miller Tremblay

Don,If I would have trouble to find the right words, I probably would still not know what to say. Our friendship over the years was well in distant directions but never out of my life. I will never forget your wife and the kids mother and the special friendships we had. I saw her a month ago for a moment that I will not forget, Our love and sympathy and GOD's love hopefully will give you all comfort. Dennis and Carolyn Dendler
